Hi everyone,

After some time well spent lurking I’ve finally decided to make my first post. I recently got some free time in my schedule and decided to start with a newbie routine. I have read the occasional thread about someone not making any gains after x amount of time and I believe that technique could be a issue. I’ve been stretching and jelqing for a month now and have some questions about my jelq technique.

1: When I jelq, I alternate hands and always have one as a tourniquet so I don’t lose my erection level. Should I continue to do this or should jelq the way the video depicts it?

2: While jelqing I would describe my penis as a very firm shaft of ice, meaning my hand slides over the shaft easily until it reaches the head. When jelqing like that I don’t really feel any pressure in the shaft just some moderate pressure when my hand gets to the head. Last night when I was doing my routine on some jelqs I would feel a build up of pressure in the upper shaft and head as I moved my hand upwards. Should every jelq feel like this? If so is there a recommended grip cause I find it hard to get that build up of pressure on every jelq.

3: I have been trying to practice quality over quantity. So many different routines say to jelq x amount times but when I jelq I just keep a loose track of long I’ve been doing it. Should I go for doing x amount of jelqs or worry about how long I’m doing it?

4:I am circumcised and have been using a medium to hard grip when jelqing. Which grip should I continue to use, medium or hard?

Any advice is welcome.

In my opinion, do the jelqs how you feel most comfortable while still making gains. Everybody is different and i think the videos show how to do the movement generally. I say modify it to suit you.I don’t think your hand should just slide over your dick. If it does it is probably one of two things. Either you are too erect or your grip is too soft.

You said that “Last night when I was doing my routine on some jelqs I would feel a build up of pressure in the upper shaft and head as I moved my hand upwards”- that is how you jelq. Feel the pressure as your hand moves up. But don’t overdo it.

Doing it for x times or For time…I say personal preference. Personally I jelq fr 10minutes, 5 for jelq and hold and 5 for normal. That’s what works for me.

Your grip should be enough to get the blood moving. Not too hard but not too soft. So medium would be a good answer.

Can someone describe exactly how hard a newbie should hold?

What is it similar to? A steering wheel maybe? Dunno exactly.

I would jelq according to the video in tutorial.

You have a grip at the base of the penis, and one just under the glans, move the base grip up toward the grip just below the glan. Move the glans grip to the base, repeat SLOWLY, I think gains are determined by time spent and not number of jelqs. Do your jelqs at first 3-5 seconds, eventually get up to 5-10 seconds. Then 10-20 seconds or more.

I think jelqing slower produces more gains.

I know aom91 answered my question about pressure but let me ask again to others, when jelqing, should the build up of pressure I described as a build up of blood in the upper shaft and glans when moving my hand upwards be felt on every jelq? I have been jelqing for a month and have only felt that build up of pressure last night. If so, where should my erection level be at.

Kingpole, should I always have one hand under glans and jelq the other hand upwards until they are close or touching on each stroke?

Yes! This maintains consistant pressure, and you don’t lose the pressure as easy.

Thanks. I will keep one hand under my glans and attempt to build that pressure on every jelq although it seems difficult for me to create that pressure. Like I said, I have been jelqing for a month with a few off days and have only felt that kind of pressure on my last workout. That’s what sparked my curiosity and thoughts that my technique was off. Before that my hand would slide across my shaft even though I had a pretty firm grip, I believe it may be due to being too erect as aom91 suggested.

Thanks for all the advice. I still like something is a bit off though. When I jelq I can see my head grow bigger as it feels with blood but it doesn’t seem like my shaft is getting any build up of pressure. It actually feels like as I move my hand upwards some blood goes up and some goes down, creating more of a equal, lesser pressure throughout the shaft instead of pressure purely at the upper shaft. When I keep my other hand permanently on my glans it helps create more of a pressure build toward the glans but I still feel blood at the lower shaft which leads to a more uniform pressure. How can I ensure that I get a good pressure buildup on every jelq?

I’m weird and all but,

I’ve had my best gains in erect girth from jelqing at a really low erection level. My dick will have a good amont of blood in it, but will still be pointing down maybe 30 degrees above the virtical, and I’ll jelq at that level and I get amazing expansion, and gains.

I still have to practice what works for me, jelq wise. When I jelq I get some pressure in the head but it feels like the blood in shaft is dodging my hand. It’s like as I’m moving my hand up the blood is rushing downward which leads to only a small amount of pressure in the head when my hand gets there. I have tried different erection and grips levels and have the same issue of blood not staying above my hand, even when using a very hard grip I can’t keep all the blood above my hand. Any advice on perfecting my jelq technique would be helpful, also if anyone could tell me how it feels for them when they are doing it correctly. I feel like I have wasted time due to improper techniques and would like to move forward in a progressive manner.

Try jelqing at a much lower erection level and increasing your grip. When I jelq, the area above my grip expands and becomes kinda hard and turns a glossy red color. When jelqing, as you go up the shaft increase the grip until you feel that no blood is movin back down. Something that may help, get a low erection something like 40-50% and when you put you hand at the base or you wood, kegel and then perform the movement. Your jelq should get better from that. If anything sounds confusing just ask.

Erection level problem

I don’t mean to change the subject, but does anyone else have the problem of not being able to stay at or below a given erection level while jelqing?

I consistently have the problem of starting with a 60-70% erection and getting to 90 or 100% after the first couple minutes of jelqing. I can always just give myself a bend for several seconds and the erection subsides, but it really screws up my rhythm!

I have the opposite problem. If for example I start at 75% after about 3-4minutes it drops to about 45-55%.Something that may help as I’ve said in previous posts, start at a lower erection level, do some kegels to get some more blood in then perform the jelq. Ex you want to jelq at say 70% but after awhile you end up at 90% what you do is start at 50-60% and grip the base and start kegeling and when you get to about 70% do the jelqand repeat. When doing that your erection if anything would subside which shouldn’t be too hard to gain one again. Any problems with what I just said just ask.

I have been jelqing for a month now with some stretching and even though I believe that my jelqing technique is not 100% I do notice that I have random erections during the night, stronger erections overall and just getting erections easier. For me, I generally get to any given erection level and have some problems keeping it there, not the other way around. Kegeling between jelqs help somewhat. Other than that I just work myself back up to my desired erection level, it makes my jelqing session longer but I don’t want to get into a habit of doing it ineffectively.

On a side note, I have noticed that some members have gained really fast, like a inch or more in 3 months or less. Two members recently reported a half inch gain very fast. I really think an important part of their growth is proper technique. If you have a proper technique, which is what I’m looking for now, you can jelq at a lot of different levels from what I’ve heard. I have gotten decent pressure from different erection levels but I can still feel blood rushing to the bottom of my shaft as I jelq upwards even though I have a very, very tight grip. I am now finding that getting a tight grip near the base and pulling the skin downward with the other hand builds up pressure pretty good for me but I am still practicing on perfecting an effective jelq.

Aom, that sounds like a plan. I think I’ll try it the very next time I jelq.
