Hi, I’m looking for help. I was always sexually healthy, and I never had a problem getting an erection—the opposite, I would get erections all the time. So a year ago I wanted to increase my lasting power and I read that kegels do that. So I was doing them regularly, and then I started doing them all the time. Why not, I’m sitting there anyway waiting in the bus or something. Then suddenly one day I felt my penis was completely limp, and I freaked out. I stopped doing kegels right then. Thankfully the next day I could get an erection, and then I was able to get an erection, but only a weaker one. But now it’s a month later, and for the past 3 days, I’ve been completely limp. I haven’t told my wife. Did I permanently ruin my power to have an erection?! Please help.

I will add that I am 38 yrs. Old and otherwise healthy.

Thanks for responding. I did have sex after that first occasion, four times I think, however I felt that I had a much weaker erection (forget about lasting for long). But for the past few days it’s been completely limp.

I would say NO. Kegels performed 10 - 15 minutes a day wont hurt you. Do you watch porn? Porn is way more dangerous. If you watch porn it will make your lust dependent on visual porn stimulatioon in worst case.
It could also be that you have an infection or other illness. Get a chek up.

I agree that kegels won’t cause ED. I believe that worrying about ED can cause ED. If a man stresses about ED, it can become a self-fulfilling prophecy.

I totally agree with this. All you do with kegels is exercise the same muscle you use every day when you squeeze out that last drop of piss or stop the flow all together. In the short term you might cause some muscle fatigue but that would disappear just like any muscle recovery would.

My guess is a mental freak out that has gotten out of control.

The primary goal of PE should be to make your penis as healthy as possible in both form and function. If you do that, increased size will follow.

Yeah. could be mental too of course. Most likely. I got myself a short period of ED after one occasion that got stuck in my head. Took me some time and help of viagra to kill. And after 15 years with same woman I recognise that watching porn made it harder to be turned on by common female horniness from my soulmate. Thanks for all your responses. I never watch porn, nor was I freaked out about ED as I never suffered from it. But then I started doing kegels many times a day for a few months, because I had done them on and off in the past and saw no results, so I figured if I do it a lot more, I’ll see results. So there was one incident a month ago where suddenly, for the first time, it went completely flaccid. I stopped kegels completely. Then the next day, I could get an erection, but a weaker one. Now, a month later, it’s been 3 days straight and my penis is completely flaccid.

No really, I don’t watch porn and I don’t masturbate. All I did was kegels, but lots of them. Now there is no hardness in my penis at all, and it’s the fourth day now. It’s completely flaccid, which is a very weird feeling as I’m used to it always being a little hard, and getting erections all the time.

I am maybe the only one in this site who is against kegeling as an essential exercise?

I consider kegeling an auxiliary exercise. Yes kegeling helps, yes it can produce harder erections and an increase in stamina, but I strongly believe that the less, the better.

I always thought that kegels can’t be more then 50 2-3 sec holds max. Not on a daily basis. One day on one off. Here is why.

Everyday, we are flexing our pelvic muscles without knowing. When you hold your urines until you pee, you are working PC muscles, when you have to take a dump and hold it you are working PC muscles, when you are walking fast to catch the bus or whatever you are flexing PC muscles. Without knowing it. Think of it for a while.

So, if you start doing kegels like crazy, you do realize you are fucked. You are gonna cramp the PC muscles or exhaust them. A cramped or exhausted muscle group may take up to 2 months to relax.Especially if you continue working it.

So kegels yes. But in moderation.

As for you newleveljoy, avoid kegels completely. Don’t force erections to see if your penis works. Let the erections come alone. Don’t cause them. Give it a month. IMO you are badly cramped. Doesn’t have to feel pain necessarily if you are cramped. You can have sex, just don’t force erections and don’t go more than one round a time. Explain to your wife.

One month is nothing. You will be fine. It’s nothing mate. Just cramped pelvic floor muscles. Your instict is right. Just rest.

I do agree with you Bill, there is very much a point of overdoing the kegels. It’s a small muscle group and you would not expect to work on biceps or shoulders or neck everyday as much as possible.
This being said with a proper progression we should be able to do more and more, and maybe one day end up like xeno, using a hanger to provide more of a challenge.

Belly breathing, rest and gentle massage may help. Don’t force anything when you do this kind of breathing (or you’ll end up doing kegels as you exhale), pay attention to how the pelvic floor expands , how the belly moves straight out , how the sides move sideways and how the lower back stretches away from the body . It’s like puffing up a balloon.
Perhaps give a try to meditation and notice how your brain behaves when you do so.

Make sure your brain is not playing tricks on you.

Something else I forgot.

When we are talking about ED issues things that would come in mind should be:

Ηeart and blood clots, the most serious. If it’s not that, then prostate or urethra infections or inflammations. If it’s not that hormones, best guess is low testosterone or abnormal thyroid function. If it’s not that too then it’s mental. Depression,frustration whatever.

I can’t find any other. For PE’ers I will add overtraining or injury.
