Drastic change in erection quality

I’ve been at it since the beginning of January 2009, and I have made some small gains and I was pleased with the way PE has helped my erection quality. However, the past two days I have noticed a sudden drop in my EQ.

The majority of the time over the course of the last few months, my EQ was generally very good with the help of PE exercises. My penis seemed firmer (both flaccid and erect), seemed to have more girth, had a better hang, and veins were more apparent.

I’m just not so sure what happened. My penis isn’t nearly as hard as it was and it seems that blood isn’t circulating into my penis as much when I am aroused. The veins are not as visible. The head of my penis seems to stay soft as well. Oddly enough, I can still get an erection to it’s full size, but it just doesn’t seem that my penis is “filling up” to it’s capacity, and the overall hardness of my penis just isn’t what it was.

I started off with the newbie routine, but during the last month or so, I stopped stretching and started jelqing almost exclusively. I recently also started to add some manual clamping and edging into my routine as well. Right now, I am guessing that I may have overworked myself somehow. Any opinions/suggestions on my situation?

I should also note that I rarely warm up. Not because I don’t want to, but because it is difficult to do PE when your living with people.

Thanks

My question to you is, why did you change your routine when it was working good for you?

It is probably the manual clamping and edging that gives you bad EQ. I’d say keep jelqing as you used to and slowly build it up and add back the manual stretching.

Oh and take one or two days off. I would even recommend not masturbating/sex during that time.

Well I really didn’t make any gains the first two months on the newbie routine. I didn’t see any gains until I started jelqing/clamping more.

Do you guys suggest I take a few days off? Does edging give you bad EQ?

I would definitely suggest a few days off, even a couple weeks. Maybe you injured yourself. How is your masturbation habits? Personally, when I am on my PE routine and I masturbate a few times in the week, it fucks up my EQ etc.etc.

Just take it easy and forget PE for a week or so.

I think edging gives bad EQ when you over do it.

My masturbation habits aren’t bad. Sometimes I might masturbate once a day, sometimes every other day. I also masturbate with a fairly light touch. So I’m not sure it’s my masturbation habits. But I suppose I should take off for a couple of days. Perhaps, I should start getting into the habit of warming up as well.

Does warming up help with recovery?

You’re just overworked, I think. A week off should be all you need.

Is it still okay to kegel while I’m resting? Will warm up techniques help with recovery?

As others suggested, take a week off completely. Don’t think about anything. Not even kegels.
When you restart, incorporate warm ups before any workout.

Yes, and yes.

The Kegel exercise will never hurt you - assuming we’re talking non-erect Kegels and nothing else. You can always do those, even when taking a break. The same is true with using a heating pad. Heat will help you recover.

Just don’t tempt fate. Taking a break means taking a break. Whenever your EQ drops, it’s your body saying “too much.”

As marinera suggests, you should probably lay off for a week. Probably include masturbation in that too, light touch or no. Your penis needs a rest; let it have one.

I don’t think you should have gone off the Newbie Routine by the way. In the grand scheme of this odd lifestyle choice that is PE, two months is nothing.

Let me repeat that: TWO MONTHS IS NOTHING.

You are really just beginning training. Some people report gains in that period, but it is uncommon for them to be significant gains. Let me point out that all the signs you related to us prior to your changing your routine were good. Right on schedule.

This is why we recommend that people do the Newbie Routine for at least three months before taking on any more ‘advanced’ approaches to this stuff.

Did I mention that it’s at least three months? I did? Oh. Good. I wanted to make sure that was covered.

ICANdothis makes a good point.

The basic rule of “it’s working let’s not improve on it yet” is a good one to follow.

The last thing I’ll say is: it’s not a crisis. You just overworked a bit. Take a break, and go back to what was working. I wouldn’t eliminate stretches, you can just maintain them with out increasing the amount you do, or the intensity.

The thing with either adding to the Newbie Routine or moving to clamping, is: when you first start with the new stuff GO SLOW. Really pay attention to what your body is saying, and don’t get ahead of yourself.

It takes self-control. Whenever you think “Oh it’ll be all right. I just do a bit more. I can handle it.” That’s the time to exercise self-discipline and stop. Your dick is tough and resilient, but it’s not as though it can handle anything.

This is like a physical therapy approach. Small, steady work that over time produces change. If you try to get ahead of that and make the change happen sooner, you will have a set-back.

This is a minor set-back, which is good - take it as a learning experience. Hopefully it will prevent you from really hurting yourself down the line.

Does that make sense?

We should always warm up. Always.

I agree with invictus about masturbation. When I had my stint of poor EQ, I realized it was from masturbating

everyday without fail. Once I stopped I got my rock hard erections back. I only masturbate on average once every

4 days. I love to edge and kegel!! What an amazing sensation. It’s to the point now that I don’t care if I don’t cum because I get that let down feeling afterwards. Sort of like a depressive state. Preventing ejaculation keeps my euphoria high throughout the day and my flaccid hang is longer and fuller.

Oh boy.

I had a very similar experience with edging almost 2 months into my newbie routine. It overworked my penis very quickly & I was left unable to get proper erections for a week or so. All I had to do to get it back to normal was take a week off, which ended up as 4 or 5 days, and I made a full recovery by then.Edging is great, fantastic even, but you have to be conditioned enough to handle it alongside your main routine.

I’ve recently re-introduced it now that I’m 4 months into my routine and it’s made a huge difference.I’m making gains rapidly, erection quality is back to my teenage years and because I kegel while edging my ability to hold off cumming (point of no return) is incredible.

That aside,do remember you’re a newbie, take it slow and when you do feel like introduce a change to your routine do it gently, nice and slow and see how you respond to it before you get all gung-ho with it. After all it’s your penis’s longterm health we are dealing with here. Now,the one thing I did when I was recovering form my injury was to do the warm up part of my routine (hot cloth wrap for 10-15 minutes) this helped ease the injury and aid recovery.

Anyways, you’ll be back in the game soon buddy just be careful next time & listen to your body and its limits a little better :)

oh btw- when I got the injury I was ejaculating at the end of my edging sessions, now I only ejaculate once a week.

This has also been a major contributing factor to my penis growth and not overtraining.

Back after a week off due to over training

After a week of absolutely no PE (with the exception of kegels) due to what I thought might have been an injury, I started up again today. I realize now that it wasn’t anything serious because after a few days off, my penis seemed to go back to normal, thank God.

All I did today was do about 15-20 minutes of jelqing. However, this time I used a lighter grip just to start slow, be cautious and get back into the groove of my routine. What I used to do while jelqing before I had my little ‘scare’ of negative PI’s, was use a pretty tight grip. I thought that a very tight grip would hold more blood in the penis above the grip, allowing greater expansion. It got to the point where I was pretty much choking it, but I had made some small gains and my erection quality was good. Eventually, doing that along with other things that I probably shouldn’t have been doing during my routine, led me to believe that my penis gave out and I had endured some kind of injury.

Back to my session today, I used a lighter grip. Just enough to where it wasn’t so tight that I was ‘pinching the hose shut’, so to speak, but just enough where I can feel the blood moving through my penis and was able to see the glans inflate with blood some. Not only did the lighter grip feel better than the super-tight grip, but after the session my penis felt harder when erect, and the veins became more apparent again.

So the reason I’m posting this is to just show people that it doesn’t have to be super tight when jelqing, at least in my case it doesn’t. I think sometimes we want to make gains so quickly that we end up doing too much and become a little overzealous with what we do.
