I have been jelqing and stretching for quite a long time now and, over the past 5 months in particular, have followed a consistent and reasonably high intensity routine. However, I have not experienced any measurable gains in this time frame despite the quality and duration of my PE sessions. Would a deconditioning break be recommended? If so, what would be a recommended lay-off period and how does such a break cause gains to occur in the future?

I think a deconditioning break would be more suitable when you have hit a plateau. Which would be when you have made gains and then stopped gaining. Your dick gets stronger the more you push it and sometimes these breaks are needed so the tissues weaken in order to break down easier again in the future.

If you have not made any gains then I wouldn’t suggest taking a break. I would suggest maybe trying something else. 5 months really is a good amount of time to get your dick conditioned for harder exercises such as hanging or pumping etc.

Are you going for length or girth? If both then you’ll want to target length first as its hard to achieve with more girth. Personally for length I suggest hanging. I didn’t gain much at all with manual but with a consistent hanging routine I have gained close to an inch over the the past few months. 3/4 since January to be exact.

I have been doing manual stretches for 10-15 minutes and jelqs for 10-15 minutes on a 3-on-1-off schedule. I’ve had modest but very noticeable gains in both length and girth. I guess at this point I’d like to still see increases in both but perhaps an emphasis on length. I’m not sure whether I want to pursue hanging due to the time required and the possible effect that it might have on EQ. However, I’m certainly open to suggestions for how to proceed after a lay-off. The EQ issue is what has been a problem for me regarding stretching until I started applying more moderate force so that’s why I’m a bit hesitant to pursue hanging.

How are your PIs?

Well you are right. Hanging involves a tremendous commitment as far as time is concerned. Currently I’m hanging 5 sets a day. 3 in the morning and 2 later in the evening. Each set takes a half hour which includes a ten minute break so there is 2 and a half hours right there. Plus a 10 minute warm up. I usually don’t warm up for my evening session but I will use an IR lamp to provide heat as I hang for part of my sets.

For me the only way I can manage the time is to get up at 5 am, every day. It was hard at first but my alarm goes off now and I think to myself “getting up to get a bigger dick” and it makes it a fair trade in my mind!

The evenings are easier because I can sneak off to do a 20 minute set and then again half hour later to get the last set in for 20 minutes.

Personally I find since I have been hanging my EQ has been through the roof!! I do get the odd days where I had some good fatigue and morning wood is a little softer but not usually. The wife has been making comments about how I have been a lot harder than usual.

You could always build a hanger for under 20 bucks and if you don’t like it then stop :D

If hanging concerns you have you given thought to an extender? I haven’t personally used one but alot of guys on here have made good gains from them. And I’m pretty sure they are relatively safe and easy to use. You could also try a different manual routine as well. Something a little more extensive since you have all ready completed 5 months.

If your PIs are great I would change up your routine like you would while weight lifting to shock your muscles into new growth. There are several great methods to look into here: hanging, ADS devices, pumps. You might also benefit from a deconditioning break as you said. Any one of these will likely encourage a growth.

kooljake57, you are a madman! I hope your dedication pays off big time. For me, that’s just too great of a commitment of time. Best of luck on your gains.

Either do a break, which could be anything from 3 weeks to 2 years.., or do some variation.

All while using heat and keeping track of your PI ‘s in relation to your routine.
With variation I mean different angles. Different hand application etc.

Yeah, I’m taking a break mostly because my circumstances require me to but I think it might be a good idea anyway so I thought I’d take the opportunity to ask if there is any benefit. It sounds like there is. Adding different angles to stretching after a slow return in the future is good advice. Due to regressions in my PIs in the past from stretching, I first abandoned stretching altogether and then added it to my routine rather cautiously. Consequently, I ended up doing mostly stretches SO and only sometimes SD but no other angles. My plan is to take some time off (probably more than 3 weeks) and then return to PE utilizing the linear routine.
