What are some safe signs that I could start up again? I want to be sure to not cause another injury.

Take it slowly and work your way up. The most important part of starting PE is getting to know what works for you. Starting slowly will be much more beneficial for you, as your fascia will not harden as fast. If you do too much too quickly, your body will try to adapt and you will have a harder time gaining in the long run.
