Can taking Viagra become a psychological crutch?

Can taking Viagra become a psychological crutch?

Hey guys . Just got back from a weekend with the girlfriend and have good news. For those of you who haven’t read any of my posts, Im new to this forum. Im 56 and recently went through a divorce. (about 3 years ago). I met a girl I started being intimate with and had a lot of problems maintaing an erection. I thought some of my E.D problems were in part due to the emotional and mental stress of the Divorce. I think they might have been factors. Anyhow, I found myself losing my erections almost as fast as I got them with my new partner. It was so damn embarrasing. The urologist suggested E.D. Medication. We have great sex as a result of the stuff, but I found myself depending on it time after time and was afraid to try sex without it for fear of failure. I never told her I was doing the stuff. She thinks it was just nerves, etc, etc. Well I went out on the proverbial limb this weekend. We had two good sessions without the stuff. There was a loss of some of the hardness, but overall not bad at all. I was able to last for about 15 to twenty minutes without the Viagra. This is an enormous step foward. Im starting to think that our mind has a lot to do with our performance. There is no doubt that at my age I probably do have some venous leakage, but Im hoping the advice I got from some of the guys here will help. I would like to overcome this problem without dependence on the medication and so far Im elated at the progress. Hope it continues.

Pumping might help you get harder erections.

With some guys, Viagra can sort of “kick start” the system, then they can drop it. Others need it in general. You’ll have to tinker around with it for awhile to see where you are.

Whatever, glad you had a good time.

I really don’t think of it as a crutch but a necessity. Just stay within in the suggested dose range.

Speak softly carry a big dick, I'm mean stick!

Hello rrunner

I suffered the same problem whilst going through an extremely stressful few years. With me I lost all interest in sex.

Eventually when I started to get my head together I found that I wanted to have sex but couldn’t.I decided to try Viagra and it worked great but like you I was afraid I would come to depend on it .

I can sometimes be successful without it but other times I need it. I can usually tell beforehand if I will need it or not.

There is no doubt that stress plays a major part in E.D and at our age (I am 58) physical problems also play a part.

I am beginning to take a more positive view on taking E.D medication, I thank God that it exists. Imagine what a miserable state we would be in without it.

All I can say rrunner is, you would take a headache pill for a headache,no problem. Why not take a Dick pill for a Dick that’s feeling poorly.

Good luck with the new love in your life.

Thanks so much for the responses. I too am glad I had the E.D. medication to kick start this relationship. I would however like to become less and less dependent on it as time goes on.

By the way, since this stuff is so expensive has anyone out there had any success with a generic form of Viagra? Im somewhat hesitant to buy this stuff on line that’s advertised for a lot cheaper. If someone out there got a decent product for a decent price, let me know. Currently a 100mg dose is about $15.00. My insurance will only cover 4 of them and the price only get’s reduced about $1.25 per pill.
