Board activity

I did a little research into PE a few years ago and found this site, and I’ve just now taken the leap of faith and joined the revolution for real (finally). Since registering here, I’ve picked up on the fact that it was closed off to new members for a while and just recently reopened, so I feel lucky to have come back to PE at the right time.

Still, I’ve noticed that there isn’t as much activity on the board as I remember there being a few years ago. Don’t get me wrong, there’s already a treasure trove of great advice in the archives that I’m making good use of, but I’m just curious as to why that might be. Just a slow period? Or is all the information anyone needs already available through the search feature?

Maybe it’s the opening and growing popularity of so many other PE sites (i.e. competition)?

Maybe the though times. People have serious things to think about.

I suspect there have been other periods of low activiy, anyway.

Our number of daily member visits has stayed about the same. The posting is about half of what it used to be.

Guess that all the important topics that would bring people to this site have been covered a thousand times already.

Perhaps people are actually following the advice “search before posting”?

Yeah I noticed the posting is significantly less.

The views on the topics are there… but many are just lurking… and searching for topics that have been already discussed.

The forum is well “organized” so one can easily find the information he needs. And not to mention, there are more PE related sites and forums now. More competition.

Having a high number of posts each day is not what makes the site so valuable. This site is valuable because of the members that are here and the knowledge and experience that they represent.

Much of what one needs to know to get started and travel a long way down the road of PE is already contained on this site. This information is backed up by many members staying active and available to answer questions; provide any guidance sought.

This is a great site. I personally don’t count other sites that exist, and new ones that may start up, as competition to this site.

I almost never post up here because I find what I’m looking for by searching. The last actual PE post I started turned out to be something that was covered and I had my search settings messed up. LOL

Now that I think about it I really should at least answer questions more often about PE.

Nope I have done a little bit of research a few years ago but this site was not accepting new users at the time

I joined on the expansion team and would really like to contribute to these threads or create my own but everything I want to say is said, and discovery I think I’ve made is already discovered when I search for it

This site is an encyclopedia, almost perfected with more information to be learned but at a far slower rate then when the site first opened

Thunder’s post, that traffic is the same as when activity was high reveals quite a bit doesn’t it

I try to be active, but sometimes I post so much that I feel like I’m all over the place, then I refrain from posting even though I always have something to say. (:

|I post when something releveant to me is being posted about but otherwise I am lurking.

I have an idea, Lets delete EVERYTHING and start over. That will get some posting going on. LOL
