Chiropractic is a form of alternative medicine. Personally, I think if ‘alternative medicine’ actually did anything they’d just call it ‘medicine’. That being said, some people swear by it. If I were you I’d go to a gym and get a personal trainer for a week or two and see what they say, working out with their guidance has really fixed my posture. If you really want to give chiropractic a go, then do it - maybe you’ll get something from it, but don’t look at it as the only option out there.

Some Chiropractors are excellent, and will probably help your Sciatica a lot. The forward head posture may be helped a bit, by releasing tight and short muscles at the front of your neck and breaking up any adhesions around your 7th cervical vertebra which often form with FHP, but you will need to learn how to stretch and strengthen the upper back and neck muscles for yourself, and become very ‘posture-aware’ for quite some months to really sort it. Oh, and stop playing video games! (Have a look on Youtube for things on FHP; there is some good stuff and some rubbish on there, but all education is worth having).

Incidentally, what is usually now called ‘alternative medicine’ was medicine until around 100 years ago. ‘Modern’ medicine could just as easily be called ‘alternative’ to traditional medicine. It was great living in Asia; when someone went to the doctors (modern medicine) they would often be sent to a herbalist or acupuncture clinic as they knew that what they offered would suit a condition better than the drugs they could offer. The same worked in reverse, a Chinese medical doctor would sometimes suggest going to a ‘western’ doctor if they thought a condition could be better treated by ‘modern’ medicine.

Or to put it another way, sometimes a pencil works just as well as a ‘space’ pen, and a horse is easier to traverse certain territory on than taking a Jeep.

Oh yeah, I’m not discounting alternative medicine completely - just saying that in my opinion, it wouldn’t be the first thing I look to, if I would at all. I just think a lot of it is placebo, which themselves have several very positive applications. Especially when you’ve got stuff like homeopathy floating about under the same banner.

If it makes you feel better, more power to you!

If someone has sciatica which has come on fairly suddenly (i.e. is not a progressive spinal degeneration resulting in narrowing any of the foramina that the sciatic nerve/branches pass through), there is a large chance that the cause is either muscular (in which case massage, stretching or muscle relaxants are likely to help - the latter being an option only a medical doctor will be able to prescribe - the others being in the realm of what you would term ‘alternative medicine’) or a displacement of the facet joints of the lumbar spine or sacroiliac joints, which may have occurred from a traumatic injury such as poor lifting technique, a football tackle or a car crash etc., in which case manipulation by a chiropractor or osteopath is going to be of far more immediate value than anything a doctor is likely to prescribe. Joints can also become misaligned by long-term muscle imbalances. They are not placebos.

In cases of spinal degeneration (crumbling vertebrae, narrowing foramina etc.), herniated discs, or various other chronic conditions, surgery is often needed, but some ‘alternative medicines’, while not curative, can make the waiting for surgery somewhat more comfortable.

When deciding on the most appropriate treatment for a condition, a good diagnosis is the first requisite. However, if a chiropractor, osteopath, physiotherapist or massage therapist is well qualified and good at what they do, they will not cause any harm and may cause good improvement. If that is the case and it avoids the need for surgery, I would always suggest that route first. If that route provides no improvement, limited improvement, or only helps for a very short time after treatment, then it’s worth getting an MRI, which should confirm if surgery is likely to sort the problem permanently. However, even with an MRI, it’s amazing how often surgical choices change when someone is opened up on the table and the spine can be seen. If surgery is necessary, it’s necessary, but it’s very rarely the first choice for most of the patients I see with sciatica.

Well you know what my profile location says, so…

Well I guess that really doesn’t answer the question. Short answer - some relationship crisis, moved, full-time student for 5 years, grad, now back and very serious about completing the campaign.

I mean a couple of centimetres of length is only going to provide a woman with extra stimulation once you are fully inserted, otherwise it makes no real difference; a change in position can give deeper penetration. A couple of centimetres of girth is going to be useful at any insertion level, in any position.

There are no ‘best methods’ - for length some guys like stretching, some like extenders, some like hanging. For girth some guys gain all they want without ever moving from jelqing (still the king of exercises), some find Orange Bends, pumping or clamping works best for them. I trust all those methods; they all work. My favourite PE is pumping (because I’m getting lazy!). Jelqing is the exercise I have most respect for. I love clamping, but it’s the one that’s given me most injuries, so I don’t do it often.

I’ve recently noticed that after doing my stretches and jelqs, my unit feels solid when flaccid. It feels like this hard, spongy mass… even rubbery. Is that good or bad?
