Alternative for warm wraps ?

So I came across an idea in my mind,

Now I never said it was a good one but was wondering what the pros out there think, or if any one has tried it. I wondered if an infrared heat wand or an ultrasonic heat wand for medical purposes would work just as well, if not better, than a hot wrap towel for pre-PE warm up and post PE wind down. Again just wondering and would seriously consider trying it out due to the fact of my living situation doesn’t easily allow my warm up to carry on as it should.

Most of the products out there in the Infrared heat wand seem to be an easy bake oven lamp on a wand with red glass. Just a heated light that you move over a section of the body for heating muscle cramp areas. The ultrasonic wands, while more expensive, seem to offer a few other options, but also scare me. I have seen what industrial ultrasonic does to human tissue and wonder if something meant to treat a leg cramp would have similar effects on a soft tissue not originally designated as a treatment area.. See where I am going with that?

So, thoughts would be appreciated.

Just thought I should probably post links to the devices if it is not completely obvious what I am talking about. Below are two links, one to a 23 dollar or so heat lamp Infrared wand, (not ultrasound like the description says it is). The other is an ultrasound wand with Infrared deep penetration. The latter is scariest for PE but seems it would be great for ligament and tendon warm up prior to stretching.

What’s the advantage over using a $15 hot pad for 10 minutes?

Heat makes tissue supple. Constant heat is even better. I struggled with gains until I started using constant heat.

Interesting. I knew some of the experienced people around here used heating lamps, but I didn’t realize it was during your whole routine.

I feel I am having similar issues to what you mentioned, thus my looking at these products. As I mentioned the ultrasound seems scary, a family member is in sports medicine and uses one but has mentioned if you cease movement with the device you can cause a specific type of burn. However, they are second to none in getting deep tissue and ligaments supple and stretchy. Think that type of device would be great for ligament pre and post PE warm up and the heat lamp would be used for the actual member, pre and post PE warms ups. Or as Smithsonian had pointed out, through out the PE session.

Do you, in fact, use heat through out the duration of your entire PE work session? If so I would be eager to hear more about the solution you found to work for you. Would possibly help me better understand what I am dealing with in my own struggles.

So after a quick discussion with a few people that knew something or other about the health care industry and ultrasound heat wands for therapy use, they can cause galvanic burns. Similar to darkening as a symptom of pumping, they are actually Acidic or Alkaline build ups. Just some food for thought, and if any one has more time, or knowledge, than I do to figure out the extent of Galvanic burn risk from ultra sound by way of the internet. PubMed seems a great place to start, I may look more into it if I have time tonight.
