I don’t understand how kegels can improve erections? When I am erect, I never contract my PC. Actually, I only use that muscle when pissing, never during sex and I don’t intend to change it. Now, would doing Kegels give me a stronger erection even if I don’t contract it? I so, how?

Im really new to this only in my second week, but my understanding is your blood contains all different proteins and stuff to repair your cock after you make the microtears thru excersises.

Therefore increasing your blood flow around the penis will help replenish damage cells and create new ones.

I also think that doing kegels has improved sex for me, i can contract my pc muscle to make my cock harder whilst thrusting - and might be in my head but i have been able to last longer since doing pe and kegels.

I dont do a set routine tho, just when im watching TV, or in a lecture or something.

Flexing your PC muscles (i.e. doing a kegel) forces more blood into your penis temporarily. The stronger PC muscles = more blood flow.

Personally I do 10-20min of 1-3second flexs everyday. I do this so I can have multipul orgasms. If you know how to do it and practice it really works.

In men the pubococcygeus (PC) muscle isn’t used for pissing or erections. I thought we explained it fairly well here.

Thanks Westla, I read your post. My question is still unanswered though. Let me rephrase it. What different could it make to work out the BC if I don’t intend to contract it when having sex?

Good question, magnumforce. I’ve been wondering about this too. Here are some ideas:

Perhaps the BC involuntarily contracts to some degree during an erection. Being stronger would give more effect from the partial contraction.

Maybe exercising it results in better relaxed muscle tone or even some hypertrophy, which then produces basically the same effect as if it were partially tensed.

A regular routine - with some real effort put in - has made my erections harder and more frequent.

Hobby, what is your kegal routine, how many do you do per day?

BC does involuntarily contract. Especially when ejaculating. If you can prevent this action by reverse-kegeling, it’s the way to prevent orgasm. This is the way I’ve understood. Please correct me if I’m wrong, so that I’ll know better.

Exactly, Base, I kind of reverse-kegel when I fuck and I can go on for ages so I was wondering if Kegels were of any use for me.

The bulbocavernosus muscles (BC) wrap around the bulb of the penis (the end of the corpus spongiosum - CS) and are the primary muscles behind the force of ejaculation. Since they surround the end of the CS, any contraction would also contribute to a stiffer erection. There are involuntary contractions throughout the act of intercourse and you can, of course, contract them yourself. If they have been exercised then, just like any other muscle, their strength will be greater. This will give “stronger” erections and more forceful ejaculations. Kegels are the means of exercising the BC muscles.

A reverse Kegel is an attempt to relax the BC. It’s sort of like relaxing to urinate without actually releasing the bladder neck sphincter and letting urine flow. Doing this at ejaculation usually results in semen “flowing” rather than spurting because you’re consciously controlling the muscle that causes the ejection of semen at climax. This is different from constantly contracting the BC at the time of orgasm to prevent ejaculation which is the method used for male multiple orgasm. The continuous, conscious contraction fatigues the muscle and allows only a weak ejection of semen or none at all (with practice).

So magnumforce, you do use the BC in a variety of ways whether you intend to or not and having stronger, well exercised muscles (by doing Kegels) will make them work better no matter what you’re trying to achieve. I recommend Kegels as a normal part of creating optimal sexual health in men. One hundred three second contractions per day is enough. No need to go overboard.

So I should rather continuously contract the BC muscle (in other words: kegel) than do rev-kegel? The point is to fatique the bc muscle… so wouldn’t that possibly lead to weaker erection during the intercourse?

The continuous contraction is only done at the time or impending orgasm. You have to also decrease the stimulation (intercourse, masturbation, whatever) until the sensation of the impending orgasm passes. The muscle will recover and your eventual ejaculation and erection strength will return. You can fatigue your arm muscles carrying a heavy load and they recover and aren’t weaker. It’s the same principle.

Reading the forums I see lots of guys talk about stronger erections and better ejaculation after doing Kegel’s exercise for a while so there’s certainly something positive going on. If you have a problem with weak erections it would be worth a try. If you don’t then you don’t need to do them. I’m sure one’s age, how often one gets erections, one’s general state of health, etc. may have an effect on erection strength. I wouldn’t say you can only get stronger erections if you consciously contract the BC muscles. Every man is different.
