Abbreviation Definitions

OK, I looked in the quickstart guide, I looked in the glossary, I looked at the PE FAQ site, I did a search. So I’ll ask at the risk of looking uncool…

What does “SO” and “SD” stand for?

SO=straight out

SD=straight down

In reference to two-letter abbreviations, is there any way to make the search function recognize them? Maybe only limit the entire search phrase to two characters instead of each phrase within it. That way a search done like “SO OR SD” would go through.

Really, if it they were just added to the glossary, that’d probably take care of it…

I tried:

“what is SO?”
“what is SO”
“is SO”
“SO”
“SO mean”

Wouldn’t that bring back every occurance of “so”?

Two letter abbreviations should be capitalized and the search can become case sensitive in those instances.

I don’t think the squirrel differentiates between upper and lower case now stevie.

Right, that is what I’m recommending. In the case of 2 letter searches - since most of them are abbreviations - make the search only look for and pull back capitalized results.

Any idea how hard that would be? I don’t have a clue. We both know who would end up doing this project.

I just knocked the limit search limit down to 2 letters, see if that helps any. Is there any way to wild card caps only?

I don’t think it would be difficult at all. Although, if it is, I’m sure it’s not important enough to devote too much time to.

Not sure about wildcarding CAPS only, but that does sound like it might work.

Seems changing the minimum number of letters in the seach engine settings doesn’t help. I still can’t get it to spit out any matches for a two letter search.

Maybe mem has the control panel set up like one of those pedestrian ‘walk’ buttons on a traffic light at an intersection. Connected to nothing, to keep me out of trouble. :)

I’ll ask him to look into to this when he has a chance.
