3 Months No Gain

I am at 3 months of jelqing now. Probably a solid 2 if I factor in time I took off from overdoing it a couple times early on. I have no erect length gains at all. I do notice a flaccid gain. That is it though. Am I just a slow grower? Should I expect erect gains any time soon? I figure I will just keep going without measuring till 6 months and see how it goes.

I have been heating it before hand and quick mild stretching. I do 10 - 20 min of jelqing 2 days in a row with 1 day off. Been doing this for the last month. Before that I was doing 150 jelqs 5 days in a row and 2 days off. With a busy schedule, wife and kids I find the 2 days off 1 on is easier.

I think you just haven’t been at it long enough and need to vary up your routine a bit. I’ve been at it the same time as you. While everyone is different, I haven’t had any injuries and longest I’ve missed was 5 days last week due to busy/lazy. In the 5 days I was off, I lost almost half of what I’ve gained. I went on a 3 day cycle now and gained it back I feel. So having too many off days like a month out of the 3 you’ve been doing it seems like it could easily take away any gains you would’ve made in that time. I’d add more stretching into your routine. Also look into O-Bends as they are good for Newbies since it’s an almost flaccid exercise. Also, bundled stretches with one to two minute holds are beneficial.

2-3 months is nothing in PE, think in terms of years not months

2 months is not enough time to make gains for most people. However you may want to rethink your routine. You said that you over did it a couple of times. Did you make a reduction to your routine?

Over doing it is probably the worst thing you can do and it is very easy to over do it. Is there any particular reason you are not following the newbie routine?

With the limited information I have, I would suggest taking a deconditioning break for a few weeks. After that start back up with the newbie routine religiously.

Combine ADS with your jelq. I don’t think jelq will help your length but it will help to add girth.

Jelq will add some length gains.

In my experience gains never come when you’re looking for them, a watched pot kind of scenario I guess

Some at TP have proposed that the gains these processes create are so microscopic (which makes sense when you think of what’s happening at the infinitesimally, tiny cellular level) that it takes a while to observe. I think this was true for me when I started out and made a good amount of on & off stabs at PE before I got determined not to quit - no matter what. Prior to this, very little in the way of observable gains (although again, they were probably beginning to occur and the weeks/months between efforts may have been helpful (unbeknownst to me) deconditioning breaks). Once I got consistent and as some have alluded to here, backed off a bit, I finally started seeing some consistent growth.

What’s interesting to think about, is do the on & off starts of many newbies lay the groundwork for later growth? Very probably from all the anecdotal threads I’ve read over the past several years. They’re indeed not only prepping one for success but perhaps cajoling our DNA to get back into the long-suppressed growth mode here & there in our units and therefore probably adding minute amounts of tissue that after months of effort suddenly, cumulatively become measurable.

And then out addiction to PE is cemented. :)

So keep at it my friend. Doing PE is for certain playing the long game for most men, but a surprising number of us succeed if we patiently keep at it and keep a very positive, hopeful mindset during the process (but that’s a whole different thread). Best of luck garken11!

Thanks everyone for the advice and encouragement. For the first 5 - 6 weeks I wasn’t heating or stretching. That is when I had to lay off from mild injuries. Plus I was a bit over anxious about results even while thinking I was being careful. I thought I could get away without heating and stretching because I didn’t have the time. The next 6 weeks or so I began heating without stretching. Just recently I began stretching after heating. Although throughout all this time I have stretched intermittently throughout my days when I can. I guess my experience shows that cutting corners doesn’t work.

Have any of you ever experimented with doing two shorter jelq sessions per day instead of one long one? Have you noticed any differences pro or con?

My best gains period was when I totally forgot about gains and just enjoyed the exercises. Loved every stroke and every stretch. My goal is to get back to that frame of mind. Just forgetting about the gains and enjoying the journey. I’ve become a bit gains orientated recently, and its really bugging me. I have to beat it out of myself. Its making me negative.

I’ve tried shorter jelqs during different times of the day, but I’ve noticed that it doesn’t work for me and it killed my EQ, so went back to my one longer one. I have to say, my EQ is pretty good at the moment, and I’m starting to enjoy my routine again. Just have to forget about gains and throw my ruler away. Damn 12 inch ruler.

+1
I couldn’t agree more with you. At my very beginnings I was also stressed and sometimes depressed, even though I never had habbit to check and measure so often, I was in some kind of negative state of mind, doubting if what I was doing is right…. I took a break and restarted my routine, I am taking it really slowly now, even lighter than original Newbie routine.

I am really enjoying my workouts now, I want to incorporate PE into my lifestyle, I am not in hurry and rush, I want to enjoy every stroke and every stretch like you said.

Gains will come brother, just don’t worry too much about it cause that way you attract negative energy which will result in failure on your yourney. Live the PE, enjoy it, that what it is all about.

Good luck !

Definitely do some sort of warming and stretching before. I have a heating pad I keep plugged in by the bed. When my alarm goes off in the morning I flip it on and hit snooze. When it goes off again, I know it’s warmed up and I put it between my legs and tuck everything in down there to warm it up. I snooze one more time and when it goes off I get up, jump in the shower, stretch, and hit my morning routine with 30 second hold stretches every direction. Then bundled stretches, followed by O-bends, andthen a light jelqs for about 10-15 minutes. Then I shampoo and wash while I warm down. I’m at home right now, so I do my full routine around 11 or 2, depending on the day. Then another similar light routine in the evening.

If you don’t gain in a month, either up intensity or frequency. 150 Jelqs isn’t much. You can work up to at least 300 by slowly adding 25 per week, or by increasing the seconds per jelqing stroke. You can also add another workout day if it fits your schedule. As soon as EQ drops, cut back so you can find that thin line and work within it.

If you haven’t already try adding kegels and reverse kegels to your workouts. They help with blood flow, if you’ve gained you’ll see it rather than just have low EQ.

Please don’t up intensity or frequency. That’s a very common mistake. Growing invloves time as I months and consistency.
