Wellbutrin could help gains

When I was on Wellbutrin my flaccid hung about 1 1/2 inches longer. I seriously have no idea why. I also noticed when hanging, stretching, and ADS’ing with PE weights that I actually felt fatigue for the first time ever. This makes me think my tunica is way too touch, retracted, and tight, which is how it feels most of the time. My erections were also MUCH harder on wellbutrin, I just had to stop taking it because I am a dedicated power lifter, and I was hardly eating, sweating nonstop, and it kind of killed my emotions.

Does anyone have any thoughts, or similar experiences? I am now looking for a way to get this back again without that drug.

RESULTS: In both the individual studies and the pooled dataset, the incidence of orgasm dysfunction at week 8 (primary endpoint) and the incidence of worsened sexual functioning at the end of the treatment period were statistically significantly lower with bupropion XL than with escitalopram (p < .05),

and statistically significantly higher with escitalopram than with placebo (p < or = .001). The percentages of patients with orgasm dysfunction at week 8 in study 1, study 2, and the pooled dataset, respectively, were 13%, 16%, and 15% with bupropion XL; 32%, 29%, and 30% with escitalopram; and 11%, 8%, and 9% with placebo.

Since you felt the need to start a new thread, I’m just gonna go ahead an quote myself.

ironaddict, equating your observation with possible PE gains seems like a stretch.

fourofakind, I don’t see what you are getting at with your quote. Your source simply shows that wellbutrin does not cause orgasm dysfunction or sexual dysfunction (nor would a sugar pill), while escitalopram can (which we know since it is an ssri). So, how is that related to the topic?

Because you are a power lifter and need lots of calories to do you job. Wellbutrin may not be for you. As far as longer flaccid hang and better hanging it was likely do to PE. Your likely going through a growing phase from doing PE. Your dick is giving up it’s resistance to PE that is what your tunica may be going through. It may be penis hypertrophy time!

Yeah I’m with mravg on this one. Your post had NOTHING to do with mine. It is interesting how many rude people there are that like to chirp in on these threads.

And guys, now that I have STOPPED Wellbutrin, I do not have that side effect anymore. My penis went back to it’s previous flaccid size, and it does not get sore anymore. Trust me, it was related.

That is not what it shows. Wellbutrin DOES cause sexual dysfunction, as did placebo, both less than escitalopram. The poster is discussing increased erectile hardness, the opposite of what was found in this study.

My bad homie, I just didn’t see why this needed to be a new thread. My post DID have something to do with yours. Anyways your report was interesting as far as PE goes. Bupropion causes high blood pressure in 4%, this side effect may have contributed to your rock hard erections. Although, overtime high blood pressure contributes to ED.

Good question. The study participants may have had previous experience with anti-depressants. They may have known that many cause sexual dysfunction, or that the study was studying sexual dysfunction…

Koapu, lots going on in that quote:

1) This means Bupropion is treating depression while having less of a sexual dysfunction side effect than the SSRI.

2) This study was looking at patients with psychiatric disorders, specifically: sexual aversion/inhibited sexual desire, inhibited sexual excitement, and/or inhibited orgasm. It is likely that the bupropion treated the psychiatric disorder allowing return to normal sexual functioning.

3) You forgot to mention that a few sentences later wikipedia concludes: Bupropion does not affect any measures of sexual functioning in healthy men.

4) You need to take wikipedia with a boulder of salt.

We all have big dicks so why are we arguing, hehehehe! The elevation in blood pressure would be a concern though for those who have hypertension.

Ironaddict69 — I think it is totally possible that the Wellbutrin helped relax your flaccid by lowering your anxiety/stress level, thereby making it more receptive to hanging etc. There is a showers vs. growers thread going on now where Kingpole suggests that showers have less anxiety, resulting in more relaxed flaccids.

KP’s first post, he elaborates later:

kingpole - Growers and showers

As to the sexual dysfuntion and libido tangent, a relevant study on wellbutrin summarized here:

Depression Drug Helps Women With Low Sex Drive
Hypoactive Sexual Desire Disorder: Symptoms, Treatment

Quote
Low sex drive affects at least one out of five women in the United States. A study presented at this year’s American Psychiatric Association meeting found that bupropion hydrochloride sustained-release tablets may be an effective treatment for some women who suffer from hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD). There is currently no approved drug treatment for low sex drive in women.

Researchers found that almost one-third of the women in the study responded with increases in the number of episodes of sexual arousal, sexual fantasy, and interest in engaging in sexual activity. Women included in the study were aged 23 to 65 and had experienced HSDD for an average of six years. Participants saw improvement as early as two weeks after beginning treatment.

Bupropion hydrochloride SR enhances the presence of neurotransmitters, norepinephrine and dopamine, in the brain and is not associated with the sexual side effects often experienced by patients using selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) anti-depressants such as Prozac, Paxil, and Zoloft.
