Dino,

A theory that I never knew before is that girls get their period at 110 to 120 pounds. They reach that weight - most are reaching it faster and faster - and she will get her period. Age plays a role but the weigh is just as strong of a determinant.

I’m going to get me some of this here soy. My raging libido could use the break. Maybe it will also reduce my bodyhair. Perhaps even cure my male pattern baldness. Cool.

I never understand why people worry about losing their libido. One less craving to satisfy.

I’m assuming that this was a sarcastic statement. Because as one who has lost their libido, it is the worst feeling that you can ever experience. It’s simply unmanly to not be able to feel turned on by a beautiful woman.

Good point, Although over the years I’ve adjusted to self catering rather than ready stuff, So I know (most of the time) what I’m eating and drinking. I’m also allergic to cow’s and goat’s milk. But I’ve never found the common denominator.

HA! Did the title of this thread make anyone else crack up?

I’m sold. Soy is evil.

So what consumable products is the evil Soy hiding in that I may not be aware of?

Ziggs read the label of things like salad dressing they use soy oil for almost everything it’s cheaper than most other oils and lower in fat. I wish olive oil wasn’t more expensive than wine.

Soy Protein

Increasingly, soy protein is recognized by food manufacturers as a versatile food ingredient with functional and nutritional properties that greatly enhance the value of finished foods in every consumer category. Products containing soy protein can now be found in nearly every aisle of the supermarket.

Baked Goods
Soy protein is used in the manufacturing of breads, cookies, crackers and other baked goods. Soy protein improves texture; holds moisture; creates cake richness; whitens bread; extends shelf-life; reduces breakage and crumbling; enhances nutrition; improves manufacturing, handling and machine ability; and improves mouth feel and overall quality as perceived by the consumer.

Breakfast Cereals
Soy protein is used extensively as an ingredient in hot cereal mixes and breakfast bars to boost protein value and quantity.

Pasta
Pasta products can be fortified with soy protein to increase nutritional value. Soy fortified pastas with a 15-17% protein content are used today by the US National School Lunch Program.

Beverages and Toppings
Soy isolates are used in coffee whiteners, liquid whipped toppings and pre-whipped toppings. They also are used in sour cream dressings to emulsify fat, control viscosity and provide textural characteristics. Instant beverages used as meal replacements often contain soy concentrates and soy isolates as a source of protein.

Meat, Poultry and Fish Products
Processed and whole meat products can be improved by adding soy protein, which provides the product flexibility and cost stability consumers demand. Adding soy protein to meat and poultry products can enhance moisture holding, texture, binding and cohesion, product yield, juiciness, protein quality, appetizing color and appearance, longer shelf-life, palatability and total nutrition.

Dairy-Type Products
A number of dairy analog products have been developed with soy protein, including imitation milk, imitation cheese, non-dairy frozen desserts, coffee whiteners, yogurt and others. Soy protein lowers cost, improves nutrition and reduces allergenic response.

I haven't failed, I've found 10,000 ways that don't work. Thomas Edison (1847-1931)

I did a quick search on the Author, and while I’m not a soy consumer, since I hate the stuff, I’m surprised nobody brought up the fact that this guy is a Christian right wing wacko (Not that all Christians are such). He’s obviously motivated, at least in some way, by the fundamentalist belief that gays are going to hell and that it’s horrible to be gay.

Way before there were soy products being mass produced, there have been varying tastes in human sexuality. I happen to believe that for the most part, one discovers their tastes and doesn’t have much influence over them. Being gay or not isn’t much different than liking tomatoes or not. Taste isn’t always absolute either, like black or white. There are a wide array of variable tastes;black, gray area or white, with most of us falling somewhere in the gray area. Sexuality is no different.

I happen to believe that moderation is a key element to a happy and healthy life and therefore eating a lot of soy doesn’t seem like a good idea just like eating too much red meat and not enough vegetables could be harmful. I’m pretty sure that eating a wide variety of foods and having a little bit of soy in your diet probably wouldn’t be all that bad. The human body is amazing and has a way of balancing things out, especially if your diet is balanced.

I also have found no actual scientific proof anywhere that ANYTHING makes you gay, let alone ingesting something like soy. On top of that, just because testosterone levels get lower as we age, doesn’t make all old men more feminine. I’ve never seen anyone’s grandpa turn into a grandma nor have I seen older woman start getting masculine and developing an interest for football when their estrogen levels decline…LOL.

You can’t believe everything you read. When I was in college, I took a class on critical thinking. One of the main principles of critical thinking is to suspend judgement until all the facts are in, while keeping an open mind but also being equally critical. While the Internet can be a great source of info, it’s also packed with BS and opinion purported to be fact. Some of this article may have relevant facts, but most certainly, some if it is total BS.

Being at the opposite end of the spectrum is no picnic, to be constantly at the mercy of your urges…

Dino,

Girls usually grow up quicker than boys; and I think the current medical opinion on why girls are developing sexually so young is they are eating so MUCH, compared to the past. As All4 mentioned, periods start at a fairly specififc weight.

Also, young people are a lot bigger than people used to be; saw my 17 year old cousin with three of his friends the other day and the smallest one of them was about 6’4” - wonder if this is to do with all this hormone consumption?

I agree with huff. A degree of virility is fine, but the animal in mating season level of testosterone is awful; it stops you from doing more productive things with your time. I mean, chasing women and jerking off is fun…but there are limits.

I wonder if being gay makes you spew out tofu blocks?
