Prostate Surgery (TURP) Transurethral Resection and Penis Health

In 1988 I had a severe case of prostatitis. Recovery was a rather long process. Afterward diagnosis was benign prostate hypoplasia, in otherwise enlarged prostate. Treatment occurred over the next decade. Prescription medication was given with very positive results. After 2000 things deteriorated to the point that it was necessary to urinate about every half hour or so 24 hours a day. Needless to say nights were seriously interrupted. There were several times when when cauterization was necessary. In 2002 a biopsy was performed. The report came back negative for cancer. This was a great relief as several friends underwent biopsies at the same time. Five men in all were involved, four of which came back positive for prostate cancer.

All four underwent radiation. All four had serious issues with the radiation. I was fortunate that I only had a very enlarged prostate. This did not interfere with my sexual activity with the exception to urinate frequently. It was in 2003 that TURP, transurethral resection of the prostate was performed. That was in March of that year. (I had recently been divorced) I was not to have any type of sexual release until August of that same year, a period of abstinence for 5 months.

Needless to say, I was very apprehensive about climaxing the first time after the urologist gave a green light to resume sexual activity.

The surgical procedure apparently affected my ability to get a good firm erection as I would experience prior to the surgery, but at least I was not 100% impotent.

This continued, and I tried Viagra, Cialis, and a third prescription of which I do not remember the name. Last November a year ago I discovered Thunder’s Place, and began PE here. I had discovered a different site about two months before, but was not gaining any results so I switched here.

I am glad to say that the results from the processes learned here have greatly improved things with the EG problems. So much so that I feel that I no longer have problems in that area. The TURP surgery also solved may other problems. I am very thankful to have discovered Thunder’s Place. Thanks guys

Wow, now that’s a journey. How did you manage to deal with such an annoyance for such a long time? Literally longer than I am old… But at least it’s over and Thunder’s has helped you regain proper EQ. This place is a lifesaver I swear.

Do you have any idea what brought about the enlarged prostate/prostatitis? In addition to the frequent urination were your testicles sore and throbbing throughout the day? That was my only symptom at the time that I had an infected prostate. Though my urologist stated that my prostate was only slightly swollen, which could explain the lack of frequent urination.

Also I do hope that your friends all made it through their fights against prostate cancer.

Best of luck to all fellow PE-ers in their journey.

As to the enlargement of the prostate, I would guess age. I have a brother 3 years my junior who had the same difficulty at about the same age that I experienced it. His urologist also told him, as mine did, that his prostate was among the largest he had seen in many years of practice.

My testicles never ached as far as I recall. The BPH also never interfered with sex. I have always been very active sexually. Both marriages were enjoyed with a high frequency of intercourse.

I am now single and masturbate frequently.

My surgery was 11 years ago (2003). To date I have not had a recurrence of the previous symptoms.

Before the surgery the PSA level was over 12. My last checkup came back with a PSA of under 4.0. Hopefully this will remain that way. I do have checkup every two years. I have no idea concerning prostate problems of ancestors.

I have also lost contact with the other men referred to previously.
