One of the reasons why I started looking into PE about a year ago was my increasing problem with getting fully up when having sex or even jerking off. I did it off and on but decided to start really getting back into it a few weeks ago. I know part of my problem is the psychology of not thinking my dick is big enough even though it is. So part of this whole process is to also break that psychological cycle. However now that I’ve started PE I was hoping to start having much better morning erections than I had before. That was one of the indicators that the dick was working physiologically was the morning hard on. I haven’t been getting really rock hard erections in the morning for a good month now (far before the PE started). Perhaps I should just be patient.

A test to see if everything is working is for me to jerk off. So this morning I woke up very early due to some work-stress induced dreaming and a headache. It was soft so I decided to get it hard in bed. I was just slowly working the frenulum but it was barely responding. I was a little concerned since I thought I had a good workout last evening. I am very cognizant of overworking and looking for other indicators besides ED and all seems fine there. So I moseyed on to the computer room to see if it was possible to get it going with some porn. I fired up a video and within a minute it was 80% up and another minute it was rock hard. That’s actually a better response than I usually get even when jerking off with porn. In the past couple of months it would often take 10 minutes or so to get that worked up.

So there’s my conundrum that I’m looking for advice on. My initial reaction is that since all other indicators are good and my EQ/ED is the same as its been before, I think the ED issue right now is mostly psychological and a matter of being overly used to being stimulated by jerking off to porn rather than solo interaction, or in the case of playing with a partner psyching myself out. Any thoughts from the crew?

I’ve got psychological ED about as bad as it comes, in my opinion. I’ve never in my life been able to get it hard enough for sex the first time with a new woman. And any kind of trigger of insecurity that hits me during sex makes me lose the erection. I know this is psychological, because when I’m alone or with a partner I’ve been with for a while, this doesn’t happen. Also, even juicing with a double dose of cialis doesn’t help this situation.

However, like you, I think I might have a bit of physical ED, since cialis does help in some situations. The way I test myself in the way you’re talking about is I go a few days without jerking off and see whether I wake up with morning wood. Or, if I don’t actually wake up with wood, I am usually able to “think up” and erection pretty easily when I wake up. This is the time when the body is most relaxed and has the highest levels of testosterone. I guess the point in relationship to what you’re saying is that if you go a while without getting off, you should be able to get hard relatively easily, even if you have psychological ED.

Well another day another experiment on this topic :) . I had a great PE session last night. I woke up in the middle of the night again and couldn’t sleep so wanted to see if I could get it hard all by my own in bed. It would at best go 50%. I again roll into the computer room, fire up some porn and it goes super rock hard. So good news is my hardons when jerking off to porn are faster and harder than before. Bad news is I still can’t get the goddamn thing to go up when I want to on my own. I vote for psychological not over use.

Well I took two days off by accident and didn’t wake up in the middle of the night but instead on time this morning. I don’t know which of the two it was but it was the hardest morning wood I’ve had in many many months. w00t!

Normally, I’d say psychological. I “use” mine to an extent that most would consider extreme. I’ve been told, more than a few times, that I have a sex addiction. However, the lack of morning wood indicates the possibility of health issues. If your body is healthy and your heart and blood flow good, then you should have good wood when you wake. At 41, I still have outrageous erections when I wake up, every morning. When I sleep with my new GFD, I can never wake on my own, because she sees that tent under the covers and can’t help herself. LOL. My advice to you would be to check the my general health before I focus on sex related causes. Do you exercise regularly? Do you get proper protein? Sleep patterns good? Fatigue could cause it, although I rarely get more than 3 hours. Some people say that smoking is bad for dick health, but I smoke cigars and a pipe and my cock is rocking. So, I’d say that is personal. Everyone is different. But I’d look into it. Dick health is like a barometer of overall health. That’s just my two cents, though.

Knight, I haven’t woken up to morning wood on a daily basis in a decade. The incidents I was referring to was waking up in the middle of the night due to something else, not waking up at my regular time in the morning. The one time I woke up in the morning at my regular time after a good night’s sleep and without having a very stressful day the day before was my last post. That said, I can do a lot better on my eating and exercise pattern. I’m not morbidly obese but I know my cardio sucks and needs improvement. I’m pretty good on sleep though. I don’t wake up with an alarm clock but instead whenever I wake up, which is usually after 7-8 hours of sleep.

Loafrath, I don’t think it would affect spontaneous morning erections. However my concern wasn’t that I was waking up soft, it was that it wouldn’t go up solely by me playing with it. That would be cause for concern most definitiely except I could get it to go up quite well when jerking to porn instead of my imagination.

Well I’m definitely narrowing this down to the psychological now. I’m seven days into a porn and JO fast and libido is high, morning erections even better than before but when it comes time to actually doing stuff I am totally psyching myself out. It’s all around if I or “it” is hot enough or looks hot, or is working well et cetera. It just won’t go above half up. If I think of or see someone else’s dick then it gets rock hard. Once it’s up I think it looks great and I really get into my own but before that I just can’t seem to get past the psychological barrier. I’m sure there must be some mental techniques I could use to break that cycle…
