"(Over )Kegeling can cause ED, Premature Ejaculation, etc" WTF?

Gang. This is probably one of the most experienced groups of Kegel athletes in the world, and so I come to you with a question:

I’ve been reading talk at other sites (going back about 3 years) that Kegeling in general, but especially “over-kegeling” can lead to over tightening of the pelvic floor and cause the exact conditions that it’s supposed to prevent. To be fair, the original “source” for this information appears to be Dr. Lin, who’s pretty controversial in general. But there are also lots of testimonials sprinkled throughout the web of guys who claim that they made their pelvic floor too strong or irritated an existing condition and now they shoot too quickly from over contraction, have trouble getting it up, etc. Part of it is claims that the research on kegels for men and women has advanced over the last 10 years and they’re just finding out about some of this stuff now.

Still, this is probably one of the best test groups for practical experience and long term effects. Have any of you experienced anything remotely like this? Do I need to worry about my 3x a day 20 squeezes and a couple of 10 second holds?

EL: 5.5 inches, (Updated: it turns out I have more fat pad than I thought) BPEL: 5.9 inches, MSEG: 4.75 inches. No PE since 2006. What can I say, I like the butt. :)

kegeling speeds ejaculation, reverse kegeling delays it. watch your balls as you are about to cum - they pull up to the body. kegeling does the same (hold the kegel a few seconds and see).

kegels are suppose to give you back problems if down too much, per my incontinence rehab worker ( had my prostate removed and afterwards kegeling is the way to get continence for 2/3 the people)

No.

Almost invariably problems from kegels come from exactly the same source as problems with training any other muscles: doing too much too soon, not getting enough recovery between sessions, going at it too hard after a lay-off etc.

Kegels are the only area of PE where all the usual muscle building rules and techniques can be applied.

Heat makes the difference between gaining quickly or slowly for some guys, or between gaining slowly instead of not at all for others. And the ideal penis size is 7.6" BPEL x 5.6" Mid Girth.

Basics.... firegoat roll How to use the Search button for best results

When I traveled through from Joburg to Livingstone in Zambia at the beginning of July I did about 700 kegels during the 1200 km journey. The following day my 500km journey through to Lusaka included another 600 kegels. During the 2 weeks I spent in Zambia I completed an average of 360 per day and my erections were definitely weaker when I got back home. I put it down to the fact I was not well at the time, but perhaps it was partly due to the excessive kegelling.

Since recovering from malaria I have hardly done much kegels or any PE and my erections have been rather sporadic. Some days I seem to be able to get real good EQ while most days I’m getting about a 70% erection which has been frustrating. I pulled out my old ball zinger last week and wore it for a couple of days which certainly improved my EQ, but the silicone tubing keeps slipping off the metal bars so I haven’t been using it and EQ hasn’t been great.

I have been doing some Kegels and even took 3ml test injection on Wednesday but erections still not back to normal. I don’t know if it was from doing excessive kegels during my trip to Zambia or perhaps the malaria hit me so bad that its affect my sexual prowess!!!

I’m big fan of doing kegels and my routine is as follows:

100 hold and release
Hold 5 seconds then release for 2 seconds 5 times for a set and I do 10 sets.
Hold for 1 minute
then finish with 100 hold and release

Been doing that routine for years now and at 52 have no ED nor any of the other adverse effects mentioned in the OP. My erection is as rock hard now as in my 20”s.

I was doing them everyday for a long time then you mentioned the above in another thread and couldn’t find fault with your logic. Now I do 2 days on 1 day off.

Yes, you want a balanced pelvic floor. When you are not engaged in sexual activity you want a relaxed pelivic floor. If you train kegels during the day, waiting in line or in the car or whatever, you might train yourself to get tense in non sexual related situations.

I would do a balanced pelvic floor training incorporated into the PE workout.

Right. The muscles in the penis are smooth muscles, like in your arteries…under control of your autonomic nervous system. The muscles you exercise with kegels are SKELETAL muscles, just like in your arms and legs. Over train your arms, you get weaker, train properly they get stronger. So, keep that in mind and find the right combination of stimulation to rest for you.

I used to kegel against resistance, that is I would pull my dick straight out and kegel against that resistance. I would only pull as hard as I could pull my hand toward my stomach with the kegels. I got to where I could pull really hard, and still move my hand with the kegel. I ended up shooting past my head when lying down with that routine. However, I found with that level of resistence, once or twice a week was plenty.

When using no resistance, I can do it almost daily. Just bear in mind the more you stress the muscles, the more time required to recover and get stronger…just like gym exercises. You will know you are doing it right because your erections with get harder and you will shoot further. If the opposite is happening, do less.

Thank you for the responses so far guys. That helps a lot, particularly from the long timers/Mods.

Follow up (partly based on BBC’s response): I’ve seen more recommendations lately to use reverse kegels rather than kegels when nearing orgasm and wanting to hold off on ejaculation. But the old Eastern texts as well as the best modern books on the subject (How to Make Love All Night, the Multi-Orgasmic Man) all swear by “kegel and clamp” when it comes to reducing arousal and triggering multiples, and it feels like they’ve done what they’re supposed to do when I’ve tried it. Thoughts?

Thanks for this, maybe the travelling kegel’s aren’t the best but rather incorporate. I will try a new routine and build up slowly. Perhaps the malaria and med contributed to my condition more than the excess kegel’s!!!

Reverse kegeling will (may) prevent you from having an orgasm just jet, while a strong correctly held kegel lets you have an orgasm without ejaculation or refractory period (results may vary).
My experience: periodic kegeling with relaxation in between keeps a good enduring erection. Holding the kegel for longer periods under continuous stimulation increases arousal levels. Doing this for too long it can trigger an orgasm which feels kind of weird, because it is totally out of sync with mental arousal. It’s an orgasm though, not just ejaculation.

“Holding the kegel for longer periods under continuous stimulation increases arousal levels”

Any suggestion how long to hold each kegel while stimulating?
