My circumcision log - Medical reasons

Got a letter from the hospital today. Next week – the 24th it’s going to happen.
I’m getting circumcised. This topic will be my circ-log.

Why?
There is a post history of me with problems with my foreskin.
But a long story short: I have Lichen Sclerosus. An uncommon skin disease.

Complaints?
The foreskin looks white, is paper-thin and lost most of its flexibility. This makes it vulnerable to scarring and sometimes makes intercourse less fun then it should be. It’s not an STD nor something inheritable. It also “cuts in” my erect shaft. See sick_skin_erect image.

Cause?
Unknown. It probably has to do with my immune system.

Background?
It all started when my frenulum started ripping. My Doctor lazered it away over a year ago. You can read about it here:

But ever since then, my glans and foreskin turned more white and more dry.
Different doctors told me it was inflammation, and I should not worry about anything. They gave me some ointment and told me I was good to go.

But problems only got worse. Some internet research pointed me to a (non-harmful) skin disease. LS.

Nevertheless a really annoying problem I wanted to get rid of. I decided to consult a dermatologist. He confirmed the LS and advised me to contact an urologist for a circumcision. So here we are today.

What kind of cut?
Not sure, I was advised to have as much taken away as necessary to prevent further spreading. The urologist will decide on the fly. Looking at the infection it will be low and tight. I don’t think I have much choice.

Emotions?
To be honest I’m afraid it will be a very painful experience, and I hope I’ll get full anesthesia. Although it would be interesting to see myself getting circumcised. But I’m afraid that would only add to the pain. I considered circumcision when I was younger because of:

• Look
• Hygiene
• Lasting longer in the sack

Hope all goes well for you man. I also had to have circumcision due to tight foreskin. Wasn’t to much trouble while healing and didn’t suffer any real pain, but the circ does look very untidy with scar marks from each stitch. Make sure the stitches aren’t left in to long to avoid this. You will be fine.

Last night with my foreskin. :)
Going in for surgery in t-minus 7 hours.

Asked my girlfriend during intercourse to *remember* as good as she can how it feels.
Won’t be much of a problem since I’m her first and only lover.

But I want to check if she will experience something else too in a few weeks / months.

I still have a video of the last night I had mine! Luckily it’s in a format I cannot watch any more, or anyone else for that matter. If I find it, I will destroy it; there is no point looking back - only forward.

You won’t regret it. Neither will your girlfriend.

As a funny aside. One of my friends asked my brother “when your bro has the chop, what do they do with the foreskin?” My brother replied “I think he’s having a leather jacket made from it.” :D It’s the only nice thing my brother ever said about me…. :)

All went well today.
Checked in at the hospital this morning and as preperation before the surgery I got:

- 2 pills to prevent swelling
- a shot of medicine in my ass, no idea why
- an infuse in the hand

Before inserting the infuse, the nurse flirted with me by saying I have really pretty veins on my hands! haha.
Anyway, after about an hout I woke up again when she was gently slapping my face.

My penis was wrapped in. After 2 hours in bed, the nurse came an removed the wrapping from my penis.
Attached how it looks now, on day 1. Still swolling but that’s normal.

I’m glad I had it done, I can already tell it looks better and puts an end-line to my issue.

I was not allowed to drive the car afterwards. I called up my mom, and she was doing groceries nearby.
But since I was impatient I decided to drive home myself anyway very carefully.

You know Madnez, you just made me think how much the world has changed.

When I had mine done, the internet didn’t exist. There was no kind of support network. No one to talk to about it. Digital photography didn’t exist either, and if I’d taken those photos with a film camera, the developers would have not printed them. :)

I guess there are “fors and againsts” both ways, but at least you know you are not alone, and everyone else who has similar problems in the future has your example to follow.

Agree, it’s remarkable when you think about it. But it is known that nowadays one week of New York Times contains more information and events then a person 500 years ago would encounter in his entire life.

It’s good to have all this information, it saves you time, and maybe even money.

Especially since LS is so rare among males. Not even doctors can diagnose it properly. When someone in the future runs into this post, he can clearly see the symptoms and what to do about it, without wasting years (like me) visiting different doctors, trying meds and just suffering from the issue.

+ WEEK 1

- Painless until this weekend.
- Swelling subsided for the most.
- Stitches are starting to come out since yesterday.
- Started using eozine after a week of keeping it moist (the red stuff you put on wounds to keep them dry)
- Pictures attached (warning - quite graphic)

I went for a checkup yesterday (exactly one week after the surgery) and the doc said all was fine.
Was really scared since I received a “gentle” blow job over the weekend while drunk, and lost some blood when I came.
That still hurts, and that was 3 days ago!

Note to self: BE PATIENT!!!
I’m so looking forward for this month to pass.

Note to Madnez - no more blowjobs until the stitches are out and the scar tissue has fully formed. The last thing you need is for the tissue to get infected, and the mouth (even a clean one!) harbours more bacteria than an anus!

Please allow weeks for it to heal properly and try to not get erections as that will loosen the sutures and it won’t heal properly. Keep the sutures well lubricated with bacitracin ointment to prevent infections, scaring, and speed up the healing. You can grab some at a local pharmacy store like CVS. Keeping the area moist is important. Do not become sexually active until it is fully healed after about 4 weeks or so. You screw around and it won’t heal properly and you will not get the results you hoped.

I was circumcised 1.5 years ago (at 26) so I can definitely relate.

Monet, are you sure about keeping the area moist? Got some conflicting advice now.
The urologist gave me terramycin eye ointment last week, which kept it moist and soft.

And then yesterday he advised me to stop using it and keep it clean from now on with wet cotton-wool and use eosine afterwards instead of the ointment to speed up the healing process. He said something heals best when it’s dry and bacteria free.

You can alternate between keeping the area moist with the bacitracin and letting it air out for a day. When I let mine heal, I really kept the sutures well lubricated with ointments for the first few weeks then allowed it to air most of the day. Since you are in your first few days, I suggested keeping it moist to prevent infections, bacteria, and in case you get hard and disturb the sutures (bleeding occuring), it’ll help heal faster.

I monitored my progress very closely and I actually removed the sutures around the 3rd week to create the symmetry I wanted since I felt the urologist didn’t evenly suture the skin back. I can not recommend this, but that’s just what I did. My urologist was extremely qualified, practicing for 30+ years, performed thousands of circumcisions, Director of the Urology dept., Board Member of Tuft’s University Urology, etc, but I still did not feel the sutures are symmetrical so that’s why I removed some of the sutures to allow a little more symmetry around the glans (if you can picture all this). Just be careful and use common sense with things like these.
