Magnum Condoms

Magnum Condoms

Since I have been married a while and my wife absolutely hates condoms, it has been a long time since I have had the displeasure of using one. I tried a magnum recently however, and was surprised to notice that it is not much larger than a regular condom. So I looked up the stats on it, and:

Quote
Magnums are actually only 1/4” longer and 1/8” wider than standard condoms.

Man, was I surprised — Trojan really knows how to profit on the ‘penis envy’ idea.

Oh well, nothing else to see here.

Good luck and happy pulling!

Proud Norse Pagan - Hail Oden

I reached 8x6! Now I lurk.

The Magnum XL’s are .4 longer and .25 wider than the regular Magnum condoms.

I dated a girl who told me the last guy she dated used the magnum condoms and I kinda felt insecure until I bought them and realized they fit so much better.

Cajual:

What’s your source on that? Here are mine:
Magnums:
Magnum XL:
LifeStyle XL:

Average condoms: 52 mm wide, 190 mm long
Magnums: 54 mm wide at the base, 60 mm wide at the head, 205 mm long.
Magnum XL: 54 mm wide at the base, 65 mm wide at the head, 205 mm long.
LifeStyle XL: 54 mm wide at the base, 65 mm wide at the head, 190 mm long.

The LifeStyles are a bit cheaper than the Magnum XLs (at least on Condomania), if you’re looking for the XL girth but don’t need the Magnum length.

Note that the way Condomania measures “width” is not the diameter of the circular cross-section; it is flattening out the condom and measuring that. Double the width to get the circumference. If circumference = pi * diameter, diameter would be circumference divided by pi. Then again, we use circumference more around here anyway. So, in the case of Condomania, circumference equals two times “width”.

jb560:

My source has Magnums and Magnum XLs at the same (205 mm) length. The XLs offer more room at the head.

PRODUCT STATS

Head Width: 2.5"
Shaft Width: 2.25"
Base Width: 2"
Length: 8.12"
Thickness: 0.0027" (I’m bummed, I always thought wearing these would make my girth even bigger!! However, if anyone is good at math, how much girth would that add. I know if you found the length of string to tie around the Equator perfectly, and then you added 100 ft. to that rope, you could drive a Mac Truck under the rope. It doesn’t seem right, but I did the math, and it’s right.)

A flat condom is basically just a squashed cylinder. That means the circumference will be pi x width, or about 3.14 x width.

If R is the radius of your penis and T is the thickness of the condom, then the combined circumference will be 2*pi*(R+T) = 2*pi*R + 2*pi*T. The 2*pi*R component will just be your own girth. The condom will contribute 2*pi*T. In the case of T = 0.0027", this will result in about 0.017" of additional girth. Unfortunately, this isn’t a difference that your partner will notice.

Isn’t math useful? :)

Invisible,

if you took the width x 3.14 you would need a girth of 6.28” to fill the condom. Think about a rubber band; when laid flat, it’s width is great, but when made into a circle, the rubber band is not as wide now.

But nearly an additional 5% of an inch in girth by wearing a condom. That’s awesome!

That’s a good point. I wasn’t visualizing it like that, but you are right. I didn’t bother plugging any numbers into the formula to check as you did (sadly, not the first stupid thing I’ve done today).

So, let’s think of a better model. A rubber band is a useful analogy so let’s work with that (it’s helpful if you actually go and get one to look at). We’ll begin by making a few definitions:

G = girth of the rubber band when it is in circular form as measured from the outside (i.e. including the thickness of the band itself)
T = thickness of the rubber band
Wi = width of the rubber band when flat and not including its thickness
Wo = width of the rubber band when flat and including its thickness

Imagine the rubber band laid flat (or do it for real). The relationship between all these variables should be G = 2*Wi + 2*pi*T. To understand why, there will be a Wi length on the top and one on the bottom of the band, accounting for the 2*Wi component. The only portion of the circumference remaining is the corners. These corners essentially form a half circle of radius T, so when added together we get 2*pi*T. This may only be an approximation but it seems like a good one to my naked human eye.

The relationship between Wi and Wo is given by Wo = Wi + 2T. This is because each corner will contribute T to the Wi length on each side. Rearranging this equation gives Wi = Wo – 2T. If we plug this into the expression above for G, we get G = 2Wo + 2(pi-2)T. To use this equation in the context of condoms, just note that Wo will be the width given by the manufacturer and T will be the thickness.

I actually checked this formula against several rubber bands and it seems to give good agreement. It’s a little tricky since rubber bands don’t always stay in perfect circles so there will be experimental error in this.

Now, let’s check this formula against actual Magnums. I’m sorry to say that’s a pleasure I’ve never had the need for (hopefully PE will take care of that). For the thickness of the condom the 2(pi-2)T component will be negligible so we can basically use G = 2Wo. Does 5” in head girth, 4.5” in shaft girth, and 4” in base girth sound reasonable? It seems a little tight to me, but the condom will expand so maybe this is right.

(Now excuse me while I go smack myself for being such a geek. :green: )

Let’s see if I understand.

If the width is 2” when the condom is laid flat, it’s like having a circumference of 4” because there are 2 layers of the condom (2” on the bottom layer and 2” on the top layer).

So, since the head width is 2.5”, and your head has a girth of 5.0”, it would essentially be a “perfect” fit, with no stretch against the condom. If your mid-shaft girth is also 5”, you would be stretching the condom 0.5”, which seems to be enough to hold the condom in place for a snug fit.

What do we think guys? 5” seems to be enough girth from our (Invisible’s) calculations.

If Magnums are 8.1”, that makes my new goal 8.2” NBPEL :) . Rolling on the whole thing, and having the girth for it, will be a great day for me.

Jelq, ADS, repeat.

Final Goal: 8EL x 6.2

Must...think...long...term.

Yes sir :) Large condoms (especially the XL) are a bit more comfortable if you have a large girth, but they aren’t really that much bigger than normal condoms. More about ego size than penis size :D
