I'm a little worried....

My erection quality and quantity are way down. It has been coming on slowly for a year or so, but the clincher was last night. My wife was feeling generous and offered me a blow-job out of the blue. I of course said yes, but a minute or so into it I still wasn’t getting hard. My flaccid was a little inflated, but that is as far as it went. Needless to say, the wife was a little disappointed and dismayed. I thanked her for the attempt and told her I must be too tired.

Guys this is bad. Since I was twelve I could always get rock hard raging boners. I am in my mid 30’s, 5’ 10” and 180 lbs. I have twelve percent bodyfat, don’t smoke, only drink a couple of beers a week, have perfect blood pressure and am generally healthy. I have started taking a couple of medications for allergies, zyrtec and nasacort.

I did start a new business last year, and that has been a stress on me, no question. But I think I was starting to notice the poor erections even before this. I also have noticed the inability to retain a decent enough erection level for jelqs. So what do you all think this could be? Is it age starting to rear its head, some physiological problem, possibly psychological? I need help. I haven’t been this down for a long time. I can’t get the look on my wife’s face after I couldn’t get it up out of my mind.

Any ideas?

Are you getting morning wood? If so, your problem could be psychological. If you’re not getting morning wood, the underlying problem maybe physical.

I’m in my late thirties, about 124 lbs, same body fat as you (11 - 12%) and I just started kegelling 2 -3 times a day about a week ago and my erections are much harder and longer to sustain and I’m also able to get erections quicker.

No. No morning wood. I haven’t had morning woodies since my teen years, though. I don’t think I can really judge by that. My main issue is that even oral stimulation isn’t getting it done. It wasn’t that long ago that even the anticipation of getting sucked or fucked would get things stirring.

So what is up? Do I need to go to the doctor? Damn, I hate doctors.

Thanks, mgus. I read a good portion of the thread. While I am not sure if I have Andropause, I can relate to some of the symptoms. I don’t really feel tired, though. After 5 or 6 hours of sleep, I am ready to go for the day, and NEVER take naps. I do wonder about my T levels though. I used to be a fairly serious bodybuilder, and putting on the mass was always very easy for me. I know my Testosterone levels were very high then. I don’t lift like I used to, and my strength is down about a third of what my peak was. Maybe I should go to the doc and at least have my blood tested. I just don’t want to hear that I am “fine” and be given a sample pack of Viagra. I don’t like taking any kind of pharma drug, and avoid them at all costs.

I was able to get about 40% erect today for my jelq session, but that was a struggle. I had to interrupt several times and really pump to get it going again. I have thought that I may be overtraining a bit, but I don’t think so. I am going 2 days on 1 day off. Man this is the only thing I can think about and it is really getting me down.

Now that it’s getting you down it will become a mental downward spiral on top of any other actual problems (if any). Keep in mind that your mind will be tricking you from now on.

I haven’t taken those, but antihistamines in general aren’t good for my erections.

Have your hormones tested. If levels are ok you will have ruled out a potential cause and have some numbers for comparison in later years if needed. Be sure to obtain and save a copy of the results.

I would ask for, to start with: total testosterone, free (and loosely bound if available) testosterone, LH, FSH, estradiol, prolactin, TSH. Have blood drawn in the morning.

Could be any of those or a combination. I’m wondering if the antihistamines were the straw that broke the camel’s back. How long have you been taking them?

hobby: I have been taking them for about 3 months now. 10 mg once a day. I have had really bad allergies since I was 15, and have had 2 surgeries to remove nasal polyps, once at 18 and again last Sept. My ear, nose, and throat doctor who did the surgery decided we would take a more proactive approach this time around and try to eliminate the symptoms which lead to the polyps.

After I recovered from the surgery, I met with an allergist and got tested to see just exactly what I am allergic to. Dust mytes, mold (especially soil born molds), and weed pollens are the culprits. I began allergy shots late November of last year and am near the end of my build up phase. I guess I will find out this summer if the shots help at all. Regardless, my ear, nose and throat doc says I should probably stay on the antihistamine and steroid nose spray (nasacort) indefinitely. I tend to agree with him, going through that surgery sucked big time!

Interesting side note: Yesterday, I started taking Nitro2 from NDS to help me keep my muscle pump longer after a good weight session. I had never used this product before, but a friend at the gym swore by it. I had a RAGING erection about 5:30 in the morning. I woke up the wife and put that sucker to good use!!! I am wondering if this product has a similat effect to Viagara. It contains Arginine Alpha Ketoglutarate and is called a nitric oxide stimulator. Well, I certainly felt better this morning about the state of my condition! I am just curious to see if it continues. I will have my PE session in another hour. I will let everyone know how that goes.

Skins; during you 30s your t’s does go down, and it’s a downward slid from there, but it shouldn’t be such a drastic change from your 20’s like you were saying, you pretty much just don’t think about sex as much. What it really sounds like the two major problems are stress, and then worrying about performance. Do the stamp test, were you put a row of postal stamps on your soft dick before you go to bed, and when in the morning, when you wake up and check out the stamps, if the row is busted, then you have no problem, everything is normal, well almost, you just have to find a channel then to work out the stress, like working out. Oh, if you want to bring your t’s up alittle bit, there are herbal pills or teas you can take. For example Sarsaparilla Root (), now you know why sarsaparilla soda was so popular (root beer).

Stress, yeah I have plenty. But it has never been an issue with me performance wise. I have always been able to get it up, no matter what. It seems to have been a slow process. From rock hard all the time every time, to hard but not all the time every time, to needing lots of stimulation but able to get it up, to NOTHING HAPPENING AT ALL!

The latter just came out of the blue all of a sudden. I have never been unable to get things going from oral stimulation! It was always the sure fire way to get me real hard. I know that things change somewhat when you get some years on you, but this was sudden and traumatic.

Like I said in my previous post, I was very successful this morning! I also just finished my routine for the day, and things went O.K. So maybe this was a blip on the screen and nothing more. However, I did just start taking the Nitro2, and that may be masking the problem. I will have to either cut out the supplement altogether and see if that was the it, or stay with it and see if it happens again. I do feel better about things after my morning romp and workout! Stay tuned.

I had a similar problem in my late forties (quite a few years ago). I was ‘active’ but had let my overall condition decline. So, I started exercising *hard* (at the Y daily), took up serious off-road biking and snowboarding. Changed my diet radically to much more veg/fruit, incl. homemade veg. juice (avoid commercial crap like V8 at all costs), no meat, very minimal wheat/sugar/dairy products. Lost 40 pounds, have tons of energy and stamina, and, more to your point, it’s a rare morning I don’t wake up with wood (or it wakes me up). Getting out of a bad marriage triggered all this, and no doubt helped in its own way, incidentally.

For a quicker non-med. fix, I recommend Libidus. For me, this stuff is amazing and has no side-effects. (Must remember to thank the nice young girl at the health food store who suggested it.)

In short, any kind of ED is an indication of anunderlying problem, whether physiological or psychological.

It’s good for me to read posts like this last one. That’s where my mind needs to be. I know women do it too, and I have to do it in a womanly way myself, not just working out at the gym and eating less, but also makeup, grooming like manicures and eyebrow tweezing, buying new clothes, etc. I think sometimes though it’s hard for women to focus on themselves, on their bodies and physical appearance, because we are so conditioned to be all about the heart and emotions and relationships. It’s really hard to shake off the feeling that I’m a total loser because I’m not in a relationship and I don’t want to be in a relationship. I mean, I can get all the sex I want anytime, so from a guy’s point of view, if I were a guy and thinking like a guy I’d be king of the hill. I have to think like a man. I certainly have the female equivalent of morning wood (and lunchtime, afternoon, evening and night wood).

Must think like a man. This website is good for me, lots of testosterone.

Be careful what you wish for. Thinking like a man is not necessarily good for a woman; or sometimes for a man either. :)
