HPV without Sex

Hey guys, need some help here. So my girlfriends last visit to the gyno revealed some bad news, she has two types of high-risk HPV. So she is at risk for cancer. The worst part is she is WAY more concerned about telling her parents why there are so many recent trips to the gyno put on the insurance. This is because they would make her move back home/stop seeing me/kill me if they found out she was having sex. Luckily they caught it early and from what I’ve read it won’t develop into cancer, but she needs to go to the doctor another time or two AT LEAST. So my question is is it possible to get HPV without having sex, IE using an infected persons towel or spontaneously getting it. I don’t know that is why I am on here to ask any physician/gyno/someone who has heard of this happening to let me know if it’s possible to get HPV without having sex. Or is it possible to be at risk for Cervical Cancer without having HPV.

You probably gave it to her. I don’t think you can get it without having sex, if you can it’s much more rare. There are not really any symptoms for men, which sucks because it can be really bad for the girls you give it to. The good news is is that you caught it early greatly reducing her chances of having serious consequences. Also on a lighter note I used to date a girl who had cervical cancer due to HPV and nothing bad happened to her and I know another girl who had a similar experience. It sucks at the time but the cancer is relatively low risk and she can still have kids. You’re probably going to have to be honest with her parents, she’s going to need some support to get through the whole ordeal. Just get some life insurance so if they really do kill you at least someone benefits from it.
