Body doesn't seem to absorb/retain water

Hello all,

I seem to have a general issue impacting various aspects of my health (sexual, activities, work, etc). Regardless of how much water I drink, my body doesn’t actually seem to get hydrated or retain water. The more water I drink, the more I just pee out. I guess perhaps that’s good for clearing out waste and keeping the liver clean, but I need to actually retain water if I want my semen volume to increase, my muscles to avoid cramping, my headaches to go away, etc.

Does anyone have any familiarity with such an issue? Perhaps I should mix something in with my water so my body absorbs it better?

Advise is appreciated. Thank you!

What shade of yellow is your piss? How much water a day are you drinking? What’s your diuretic (stuff like caffeine) intake?

Earliest reliable measurement (2015-06-15): 168mm (6.61") BPEL, no reliable EG measurement

Current (2015-06-23): 176mm (6.93'') BPEL, 110mm (4.33'') EG - Progress Thread

Target: 195mm (7.68'') BPEL, 125mm (4.92'') EG

Thanks for the reply.

The shade of yellow depends on whether I take vitamins that day or not (mainly a Vitamin B complex mix). With vitamins, it’s typically a bright yellow throughout the day. Without vitamins, it’s pretty much clear throughout the day.

I drink around four 16oz glasses of water a day. I feel like that should be enough.

I don’t drink anything caffeinated. No coffee or soda. IF I drink something, it might be a cup of tea once a week. I don’t drink alcohol because that further dehydrates. I don’t know what other diuretics there would be.

Thanks again!

Sounds like there’s nothing wrong with your water intake then. How much salt is in your diet? Are you sure the cause of your cramps and headaches is dehydration? Sounds like it may be time for a doctor visit

I’ll do some more research if possible before I visit a doctor. I’m proud that I haven’t been to the doctor in a long time!

Thunder - thanks for the link. Any advise on which fruits/veggies? I eat bananas as snacks and carrots (uncooked) with my dinner.

You need to have your water with some sugar and salt. (use squash with your water.. thats the concentrated dilutes for water + increase salt intake) If you give a man dying of dehydration water he will die, thats why there is saline drips in hospitals..
Your body needs glucose and salt to transport the water into cells. other wise you just increase blood volume and your body responds with lots of dilute urine. (this was a very big medical discovery)

The down side is your body will be less defined as water will go in your skin. I recently got my degree in Human Physiology… But was a thunders lurker before all that :) :) :D

Kinda curious as to why you are open to the input of people on a forum over that of a doctor that you have some type of a relationship with? Just saying.

Anyhow, I suspect there is something dietary going on, as many have noted. Hope you are able to get it straightened out. Pretty important!

My body absorbs water like a sponge..

On a day to day basis I could lose or gain a gallon of water (or 8-10 pounds)

That is only less then 4.5% of my body weight it’s not much of a loss

Basically what Ireland said. Increase salt and sugar. Try Gatorade or something similar or go the more natural route and adjust your diet to include fruits, vegetables and sea salt.

Forum Guidelines

Each to their own if there is no determining factors for the excess water intake your body will reject it.

The average water intake for anyone adult male person should be about 750 ml of pure water daily anymore is excess.

Water will not be retained unless there is a problem with your bladder, lymph nodes, kidneys.

if your urine is dark is a sign of dehydration so you either remedy with more water No soft drinks.

If you do have isues with urine retention then a closer look by an urologist is required a they may be a case for overactive bladder or kidneys or may be prostate problems
