Rogaine

Rogaine

Has anyone here had success using Rogaine? I heard it works better for hair loss on the crown of the head, and mine is mainly on the front of my head.

I know propecia is the other option but I am afraid of the hormonal changes and possible sexual side effects.

Getting old sucks.

OK. I’m 26. I’m going bald in the front. No hair loss in the back. I still have most of my hair. Most people say I look like I am 20. Started using Rogaine when I was 20. Worked alright on my front temple areas but didn’t totally stop it. I started taking Propecia around 24 for a year. It did slow down my hair loss alot, but I didn’t like the fact that it was blocking alot of my body’s DHT. DHT is a testosterone by-product. The thought of blocking anything to do with the hormone that makes me a man, didn’t sound right. I quit using Propecia and my hair loss started again. Searched the Internet far and wide and came up with this.

First and most important is Xandrox(Super Rogaine). 15% minoxidil and a DHT blocker 5% azelaic acid. It’s called Xandrox 15%. Also get the shampoo it has Ketoconazole 2% in it. In the government FDA test on Rogaine all patients received this type of shampoo it is a dandruff shampoo. You can get the 1% Ketoconazole shampoo at CVS or a drug store. Now you should stay away form regular dandruff shampoo. The active ingredient is said to be bad for hair loss. It does require a set up fee because he is a real doctor. Xandrox is found here.

And last is Revivogen shampoo. Also a DHT blocker. It also has azelaic acid in it. I use all three. I use a regular shampoo every other time. My hair loss is very slow. Like when I was on Propecia. But I take don’t Propecia. DHT is the enemy but only on your head not thought out your body. I hope I have helped everyone here because I bet alot of us are going bald and for the first time in history man is smart enough to start to fight hair loss. I bet in 3 or 4 generations hair loss won’t exist because men will pay a high price to stop it.

Stay far away from Propecia. I took it for nine years and it might be the cause of where I am at today but there’s no way to be sure.

It’s got to be costing you a small fortune not to use Propecia. I use the generic stuff and it cost about 6 dollars a month. The minoxidil stuff looks real good but pricey at 88 bucks for 2oz. I have tried the revivogen program but it’s also very costly. Right now I’m having great success with Nizoral 1% and generic Rogaine 5% used once a day and Propecia. I would love to get off the Propecia but I don’t want to pay 150 dollars a month to lose hair slowly

Why not get an implant? I had two, one at 25 and another at 27, and thinking of a last one this summer. Haven’t made up my mind yet, but that way I’d never have to worry about hairloss. As for the costs, well, to me its been worth it, and sure beats the alternative of having to take meds for the rest of your life.

I thought Propecia generics wouldn’t be available for a few more years?? Are you getting the $6/mo. stuff from Canada or something? Please tell, as I would gladly pay that instead of the current $70/mo. or so for mine. Though it is very tempting to try something other than Propecia, too, as I have started to get sexual side effects. Still fully functioning, but the libido is definitely decreased (not always - I have some good days and mostly blah days) and I don’t like that. I’ve been on P for for about seven months now.

I’m taking a 1/6th of a proscar tablet every day for a year ( about 0.85 mg of finasteride) with no side effects so far.

It’s stopped any hair loss that I had, but i’m going to start using minox once a day on the temples and hairline soon as i’ve not had any regrowth in these areas.

>Dino

Have you had any regrowth from the minox so far??

Thal and Dino, you are both using an antifungal dandruff shampoo, along with the minoxidil (Nizoral=ketoconizole). Why is that? Is there evidence to show that it helps more than minoxidil alone?

Also, these Xandrox and Revivogen programs, are they proven treatments or just some kind of money making scam?

Horny Bastard

Dino - No the cost isn’t that high. It cost me about $400 a year. For me that isn’t that high. I don’t use one bottle a month. The bottles last about 4 months, at least for me. Plus it’s a bigger bottle then regular Rogaine. A 125 ml bottle. In 20 years if I end up spending a total of $8000, that will be just fine. All the men in my family are bald. I look just like my father and he has had a hair transplant. I figured if his hair loss bothered him that much it would most likely bother me just the same. And his hair transplant looks like shit. Doll hair which isn’t standing the test of time. Cost, it’s only paper and you can’t take it with you.

Propecia blocks DHT in your body. But only about 60-70% of it. Doctors say that your body doesn’t need DHT. Bullshit. Why are the side effects loss of erection and breast swelling? That sounds like what would happen if you took estrogen pills. There is a hormone balance in your body Testosterone and Estrogen. Yes guys you have estrogen. Lower one and the other can rome around more freely. I don’t trust drug companies these days. They put out all kinds of shit and then say “oh yea 5% of people got really fucked up by using this product”.

Mravg - Ketoconazole is a anti-fungal shampoo. Which in one or another combats hair. I don’t know how but fungus on your head can’t be good for hair growth. Plus I have always had dandruff and Nizoral is great for that. I found that most doctors recommend this shampoo along with minoxidil. When I run my fingers though my hair in the morning shower and only get one or two hairs, when I use to get ten, to me that’s not a scam.

I posted this link because I love all of my Thunder brothers. I now have a bigger dick thanks to you guys. One inch longer and gaining girth everyday now.

It sounds like Rogaine slows down the loss of hair but doesn’t really reverse it so that you grow new hair? For example to go from thin hair to a full head of hair? Is that correct?

Horny Bastard

I’ve pretty much stopped my hair loss with this routine: I use saw palmetto 320 mg (the extract), once a day with a meal, Ultra Hair Max with MSM, and Dr. Proctor’s NANO shampoo. I get the shampoo at https://www.drproctor.com .

I took propecia for a bit, and I definitely had erectile problems. Actually, I turn 22 this month, and I’ve been having erection problems for the past 3 months. I think another part of it is too much porn and masturbation, but I digress….

The thing with propecia, and why I think it’s complete bullshit that they say only 2% of men suffer it’s side effects, is that 5-alpha-reductase, the active ingredient in Propecia and Proscar, works by blocking the conversion of testosterone to DHT, which is an active form. Blocking the active form of testosterone would do a hell of a lot more than make the hair on the top of the head grow back. When the male body has an excess of testosterone floating in the blood stream because it can’t convert it to DHT, it can do two things: 1. Slows down testosterone production, and/or 2. Converts some testosterone to estrogen. This is bad. I know I started to develop gynocamastia as well as having erection problems. I also gained a TON of weight and was having some pretty crazy mood swings. Last December, I was 210 pounds. When I stopped using the Propecia, and started a little basic calorie watching, I dropped over 30 pounds in a year. This was with little to no exercising, too.

Anyhoo, I didn’t know how many of you knew this already, but I wanted to put it out there as food for thought.

Hay guys I have been reading this thread from the start.

I’m 22, and have been losing my hair since about 19 to 20. The whole top of my head is thinning. I usually keep my hair short, a number 1. Which I’m happy with, if I could help this with rogain 5% and shampoo such as NIZORAL SHAMPOO 2% 100ML this would be great, is there any other products you guys recommend?

I also actually contract for a company called advanced hair, as I’m in IT and I take care of there IT infrastructure. They have tried to get me on there regrowth program for ages using laser to stimulate hair and minoxidil to stop the hair, so I think I will pay them a visit to see what they can offer me, last time they were offering it to me for staff price.

But so far Liam thinking of going Rogain 5% and Nizoral 2% and a good conditioner

If you guys have any advice it would be great,

Before this thread I kinda kept telling my self I don’t care if I lose hair it’s short so yea, but it does bother me a little, I don’t mind having short hair all my life and if I could keep the hair on the top of head there as long as I can I think I should do something about it lol

I use
Topical 5% Minoxidil
Topical 5% Azelaic Acid
Topical 2& Spironolactone

AM and PM

Works great.

Better head of hair at 27 then I did at 23.

I used Proscar and hated it. I used Nizoral shampoo and didn’t notice any difference.

Ulcaster

Where do you get the Azelaic acid and Spironolactone?

Guys, I don’t know what the nizoral shampoo does but no shit it really works and you can buy it at a drug store and it’s not going to break your wallet. I read about it and one of the hair forums and people liked it.

I also have made the connection with weight and Propecia I most definitely have more trouble losing weight on than off.
