If they are just selling antioxidants, why pay for their fancy name and advertising? Just go out and buy some generic vitamin C, E and A. If you eat carrots, you don’t need the A, because carrots are loaded with it. Colorful fruits and vegetables contain the bulk of antioxidants.

The basic idea they’re saying is that higher levels of SOD (super oxide dismutase) in animals is a good indicator of it’s potential lifespan. It is accepted by most authorities (but not all) that free radicals are the most significant factor in aging, but taking anti oxidants in a great enough quantity to be significant is not possible (approx 30lbs of fruit and veg per day just to maintain stasis). They claim that by getting the body to produce its own anti-oxidants rather than ingesting them, preventing or even reversing free radical damage would be possible. They’re on target to get this ‘magic pill’ to market early in 2005.

I’m struggling to find any good independant info about them. Their share price rocketed when the news was announced, but has settled a little since. Most opinions I’ve found in the longevity forums say things like “if it looks too good to be true…”.

I’m going to track this one with interest.

Here is an article on Superoxide Dismutase. It suggests if you take it orally, it is consumed in the digestive process rendering it shit. The body produces SOD on it’s own with a healthy diet.

If was going to buy shares I’d want a lot more information on what the company and this particular product was about. I’m struggling to find anything other than Reuters news releases. If they came down to about $1.50 I might be tempted to gamble though if there were other technical indicators supporting it.

Yes, their site says the same thing:

“SOD may in fact be the most powerful life-extending discovery of our time, but oral SOD pills have no effect on the body. They are broken up into different, unusable substances during digestion.”

It seems SOD isn’t the whole story and that GPX and CAT to figure into the equasion too. They do not state at this time what is in the pills, but they do say it’s a biological rather than pharmaceutical, and encourages the body to significantly up the levels of all three of the above in under 30 days.
