Propecia once every 5 days?

I’m tempted just for kicks to do a fingertip size in the centre of my bald spot just to see what effect it has if any. Then I consider what it will look like if it does indeed grow, I suppose I could just shave it till the rest caught up.

Would be damn funny though ;)

Thanks for the link to start me off Tube, going to do some reading for a while.

If my hair was to stay the same for the rest of my life, I’d be happy. I just want to prevent what might happen(or continue to happen), I’d rather be safe than sorry.

I read there’s a “shedding” phase when taking finasteride. So hair will fall out, then stabilize, then thicken?

Whats the difference with finasteride and generic finasteride?

For guys that have lost hair, and trying to regrow, the “Big 3” is supposedly Finasteride, Minoxidil, and Nizoral. Used together in a routine supposedly works.

"It doesn't matter where you start, it only matters where you end up."

I was told by my hair stylist that I was thinning. I didn’t even notice it. Using a mirror in the salon that day, I could see some of my scalp showing on the top of my head. When I felt the area, it was noticeably thinner than the area around it. Obviously, I had lost hair. After being on finasteride for six to eight months the area looked and felt normal. I used no other drugs or treatments. So, I think there is some regrowth using finasteride if you catch it early. I never noticed any shedding.

I would guess that any difference between the brand name finasteride (Proscar/Propecia) and the generic would depend on where it’s made. Reputable pharmaceutical companies would create an equivalent drug. Unknown or “third world” companies might not be as careful.

As I said above, I feel finasteride alone will cause some regrowth in follicles that have recently stopped producing hair. It probably doesn’t work in follicles that have been “dead” for a while. Minoxidil is a pain to work with as it requires direct application to the affected area twice a day. I’m not familiar with Nizoral. You might try the finasteride alone at first and see what happens, then add things if you don’t get the results you want.

Non-generic finasteride is Proscar or Propecia, which are identical other than the dose. All other versions are “generic”.

I’m using Fincar (generic Proscar), which is made in India. My cost per day is less than 10 cents, and it works exactly the same as non-generic. Other countries’ pharmecutical industries may not come under FDA regulation, but they do have their own standards to maintain.

My experience is the same as Westla’s. I definitely had noticable thinning on top which has reversed completely since going on finasteride a year ago.

The ingredient in nizoral is apparently an anti-DHT type of molecule, so it reduces DHT in the scalp.

Hey Guy’s what is Propecia and what is it used for, how does it fit in with PE?

Its used for male pattern baldness. It does something with DHT to help keep it from sticking to your hair follicles. I really should know more since I do use it. There are a bunch of threads discussing how it may affect PE if at all.

It doesn’t do a thing for PE but it does help you keep and thicken your hair

It has worked wonders for me. People comment about my hair all the time now, like they used to when I was a kid. Do any of you other users notice a difference in hair texture as well.

You all are still missing the point... The story was great and all but should have ass (and) some anal in it.- RWG

I haven’t noticed a different texture on my head, but my body hair is definitely reduced in quantity since going on fin a year ago.

Yes! This happened to me also. I used to have shoulder and upper back hair. Not a lot, but enough to make me get it waxed once. Now it’s practically non-existent.

Exactly. I don’t know if I can blame it on Rogaine (likely culprit), or just getting older (also culpable). But I noticed increasing amounts of dark hairs on my shoulders and upper back in the last few years. It never got bad, but enough to bother me since the pre-existing hair was all tiny blonde ones.

It’s pretty much gone now since I started fin. I’m still using minox since it’s so cheap now… under $3 per month for once per day application.
