DLPA sounds promising and it’s actually made for relief of depression. I don’t think my issues are severe enough to get a prescription drug.

I don’t know how possible sleeping less is. I really don’t like getting up early and when I have to I wake up pissed. I used to have a job where I had to be up at 5 and, I remember the anger I had everyday. Going to bed later is easier to do but I can’t think of anything to do up until 1 am. The only thing I do after 10 pm is kill time on my computer browsing the web or looking at porn until I get bored and go to sleep. I should be doing homework but I really don’t care about school. I don’t want to do things that I dislike until after I’ve had some fun. I can’t even remember the last time I had fun or was actually happy. Heh, maybe I should try a prescription anti-depressant.

Actually I was happy for about week when my relationship was going good. I’m still amazed that for a brief time I actually had what I desired most.

I have tried some audio hypnosis and they didn’t really work but I didn’t do them on a consistent basis. Cool! My audio files survived the accidental format of 70% of my HD.

I don’t know if the sups are doing [i]anything[i/] for me. The tribululs and tonkat ali are supposed to boost testosterone and elevate mood. Maybe the brands are poor but they ain’t working for me. I don’t think tribulus should be taken before bed.

I need to get a steady workout plan but I come up with excuses to not do it very easily. I really lack motivation to do anything.

That’s what it seems to boil down to. If you have any health insurance (I remember you having a problem with this in the past), go see your doctor and tell him exactly those words. There is help available.

Maxtro I’m 22, the first time in my life I got anti-depressants, was at the age of 20.
At that time I had to stay several days at a hospital because I was so down, I don’t remember much of that time, I hadn’t much in my life that gave me a reason to live, I had some drug problems and I started drinking, I lost my first real love because of my bad behaviour, I was aggressive, I felt bad about my size.

Those anti-depressants were very very strong and helped me to change a lot in my life and to get out that bad situation. After I stopped taking them, I had to take those anti-depressants again some months later, and I took them for 10 months, the only negative side effect was, I gained a lot of weight like 20 lbs. The anti-depressant is called Remergon and stronger than prosac or other candies. It always gave me the feeling that I have to do something, it really pushed me every time when I was lazy. Beside taking anti-depressants I regularly went to a psychiatrist who helped me a lot.

But remember that I had to take it because I was feeling so bad that I had to stay at a hospital for several days. I don’t think you have to take any anti-depressants, you rather have to change some things in your life.

I don’t know about your drinking habits but I do know from my own experience that when I have a few before going to bed I sleep hard for 4 or so hours then toss the rest of the night, wake up tired and washed out. And I’m not talking about alcohol hangover, not enough alcohol for hangover. Simply put when the sedating effects of alcohol wear off 4 hours into the night some type of rebound occurs making difficult if not impossible to sleep.

Now here is what I observed about my limits:

2 drinks - no problem

4 drinks - wake up 4 hours after retiring

7or more drinks - wake up 4 hours after retiring and depending on the pacing of the drinking may have some degree of hangover.

Now the above is my observations for a 46 year old man. Your results may vary

Are you taking the Arganine (NOX) after mid afternoon? Consider taking it upon rising and maybe after lunch then not again. It’s often recommended for people to help them quit the coffee. An scrap the Tongkat and Pygeum for a while. If you’re not getting laid why in the world are you concerned with your loads?? You need sex and success (i.e. testo reward) and until you manifest some you’re over-hyping with the NOX, Tongkat and Pygeum and while you’re at it the Melatonin. When you start getting laid regular start them again. The neon yellow piss is your money going down the toilet, vitamin C can cause this. If you eat regular and dont smoke you dont really need much extra and since it’s water soluble and not retained in the body you get to piss the excess out. Save the cash. I’d bet that when you scrap the dick supps you won’t need the Melatonin, but after that, if you must try it add it in in 1 mg. increments. Generally the B vit.’s and Magnesuim/Zinc can’t hurt. Nearly all American diets are at least mildly short these. Ya got backed up yang.

I’d also bet there are too many simple carbs in your diet and not enough protein (all neurotransmitters are made from amino’s) , typical young (and old) bachelor mistake. Complexify your carbs, eat at least 1 g. of protein per lb of body weight and get some nut (walnut, macademia, almond) or fish oils in your diet. Finally, get some intense exercise. Bleed that yang, dude. You sit and think too much. Hunt and fuck.

You’re right that Maxtro doesn’t seem to be suffering emotionally as badly as you were, but his problem boils down to a complete lack of ability to change things in his life. He knows what he needs to change, but he’s not doing it — he says so himself. I think your description of the effect of anti-depressants was very apt, and I would encourage Maxtro to try them if he has access to a doctor. The wonderful thing about antidepressants, Maxtro, as KinXXXize points out, is that they can enable you to get over that tremendous mental and emotional inertia and change your situation in the ways you want to. And once you’ve made your social situation in life better, it’s a self-perpetuating cycle: the happier you feel, the better you are at doing the things you want to do; and the more do you those things, the happier you get. (Depression often results from a vicious cycle in the opposite direction.) Once you’ve gotten into a better place, weaning off the antidepressants is usually fine — although some individuals are prone to relapses and do best on a continuous dosage.

Self-absorbed rumination is one of the key symptoms of depression, and also a cause of its persistence. Your advice is exactly right. As Maxtro has said, though, he knows what he needs to do, he just can’t do it. I think some legitimate “mental steroids” just might help out. There aren’t any supplements that compare to the power of prescription antidepressants, just as there aren’t any bodybuilding supplements that compare to anabolic steroids. Fortunately, Prozac is a hell of a lot safer than steroids…

I don’t have any health insurance. But my grandma took me to a free clinic thats for people that don’t have it. I talked a lady, told her my sob story and all I remember getting out of it was that she told me I was a good person. Needless to say she wasn’t very helpful. The hardest thing for me is that I want a girl more than anything in the world and I’ve made it such a high priority that I can’t be happy without one. I don’t think I have any issues that need help beyond that one.

No, I am definitely not as bad as you were. I don’t have any reason to live but I go on living because I have hope that someday my life will get better and I’ll find a girl. I think about suicide daily but I won’t do it because I know it will crush my family.

I’ve never got involved in drugs and I rarely drink. “Better to have loved that to have never loved at all” I never had a love. I have issues with my size.

From what you say anti-depressants seem too strong for me. I can pretty much function and do everything I have to do in a day. Except for school work. And I’m in no danger of hurting myself and others. I’m sure the only people that know I’m depressed are the people who read my posts and my grandma but she doesn’t know the full extant. I’m sure nobody at my work thinks I have any issues at all.

I used to take the NOX3 in the morning and maybe again later in the day. I’m almost done with the bottle but I’ve stopped taking it because I don’t see any results or feel any different. The Pygeum and Lecthitim are supposed to help loads but the only reason I’m working on my loads is for my own amusement. I’ll stop taking it. The tongkat is supposed to boost testosterone and aggressiveness. I’ve stopped taking the Melatonin because it didn’t work. The B was causing the yellow piss and I’ve stopped that as well. I’m mainly taking the C to make sure I don’t get a cold.

I just finished a 2lb bucket of protein powder and my next one is due tomorrow. I have about 3 or 4 shakes a day I don’t know how much protein I’m getting in my regular meals. Should I add a bottle of fish oil? I hate fish and I never eat it. I never eat nuts either. I agree that I need to do some intense exercise. Having a good body would no doubt help me feel better about myself, it may also help my chances with the girls.

All I do is think and sit. Or lie down and think, thats the reason I have troubles sleeping I’m too busy thinking. I haven’t fucked in a few months and don’t have a clue how to hunt.

Sorry to hear you’re feeling down. I wouldn’t be concerned that antidepressants would be “too strong” for you. Most people who take Prozac and other SSRIs just report feeling normal, only not depressed. Antidepressants aren’t like tranquilizers. They don’t make you feel weird or zoned out. They just lift the cloud of depression. I highly recommend them.

I hear a lot of guys in their early 20’s on this forum saying they’re feeling depressed. I think this is common and is very much related to your stage in life. Life gets better. I believe that people in their 30’s and 40’s are much less depressed than college students and young professionals.

“Best years of your life!” Yeah, right! Let’s name the benefits of being a 20 something. You have no money. You have no status. You usually have no long term relationship. You are not established in your career. You are not respected.

If you’re just a little bit lucky and work hard, all of these things will improve with age. Hang in there.

That very thought, in my opinion (and in some other guys’ opinions stated here — e.g., the one who said he laughed out loud at it), is an “issue.” It’s ridiculous. Whenever people are down, they pin their hopes on that “one thing” missing in their lives that will make it all better. When they get that one thing, a few weeks later, they’re on to some other “one thing” that will solve their depression. It’s almost certainly not gonna happen. And you know what? The #1 reason you aren’t able to find yourself a woman, I bet, is your depression. You are constantly ruminating rather than getting out there and doing the things you need to do to succeed (like your schoolwork) and making friends.

Look man, I’m only arguing with you here because I hate to see people suffer depression and refuse to seek help — so common among men.

I agree with ModestoMan very much. I doubt I will ever again be in as bad a place as I was when I was 18 to 19. SSRIs were a godsend to help me get out of that phase and build the successful life that I needed to sustain my happiness and buffer myself against any further depression. Good therapy can also be wonderful — but as you experienced at the clinic, a few therapists are useless.

What is this free clinic you speak of? If you can see an actual medical doctor there who can prescribe drugs, tell him or her about your symptoms: sleeping problems, exhaustion during the day, lack of motivation and interest, daily suicidal thoughts, loneliness, etc. If you live in the Bay area, I bet that there are programs available to cover the costs for individuals such as you who lack money and health insurance.

Also, what the heck are you doing spending money on all these supplements, when you don’t even have health insurance?!

I was just like you before I felt worse years ago.
So let’s say you will find a girl that you love, like I did years ago, your whole life will depend on her and she will leave you one day, if that will happen, you will even feel a lot worse than now, you will be totally f*cked up.
I learnt from my past experiences you should never depend and rely on another person. And before you want to love somebody else, you have to love yourself. You are living your life, nobody else, so nobody else can change your life. You need to be strong and you need to love yourself.

Btw I left school when I was 18 and did some crazy things and a lot of bullshit, I could have gone to prison. Then I met my firt love and I went back to school (I always wanted to go back to school after my time-out). When I was in that relationship, a lot of my problems “were gone”, at least I thought that. So after she left me, I was feeling so bad, and all my problems and all the mistakes I did, came back. And believe me when you’re feeling bad and weak and get it gets tougher and tougher, at one point you will be lost.

I always tried to run away from problems until the day I was so weak that I had to face everything.
