Mom is Blowing her Money on expensive Supplements!

She is brainwashed by this herballife brand that’s super expensive that leaves her broke paying almost 100 bucks on a supplement that is exactly like citrulline malate! The only difference is it has a few unnecessary vitamins in it that doesn’t even matter. She says my 64yr old dad has harder erections from it and I assured her it was because of the propriety blend of 5g arginine/citrulline combo. She is wasting so much money just to buy the brand when I even showed her studies about why her stuff works! Is there any hope in convincing her? My product costs 18 bucks and for the price of hers you could buy bulk arginine AND citrulline! Not to mention her product only has 30 servings!

That’s a tough one to break. The herbalists people really have it down when it comes to that type of marketing.

Kind of like us bodybuilders in the beginner stage thinking that if Ronnie Coleman was beside a certain supplement it must work! Saw one product that said a guy gained 20lbs of muscle and I just shook my head.

Why don’t you go to the press? In the uk Trading Standards would contact the company informing them of their sales persons Manipulation of a vulnerable person (key words there) You would need to play on that bit believe me. Threaten the company with involving the local newspaper. See what happens.

Sounds good. My dad was more open minded of the supplements that I told him to use and wrote them down. The only thing about it is that since my mom became a member of this herballife thing she gets discounts when she refer other people. Really doesn’t matter when she’s still spending a crap load of money on something anyway.

I do understand that a part of the deal is she will get money for referrals however she will always be spending more money than is offset by her referrals, going back to the sales rep he is there to make commission so he is not interested in your mothers financial situation like you are so with that in mind I think you need to step in, however the choice is yours. Your mother maybe resistant to any interference as people who are “Under the spell” as I like to call it never feel that they can be mistaken. I take vitamins but the ones I take are cod liver oil. zinc and magnesium, and a effervescent tablet of Vita C and a Multi vitamin (effer) and I have never felt as regular as I do now, and I have more energy total expenditure less than £10.00 a month which in my view is perfect for me (key, this works for me).

I personally do not like the behaviour of any sales person who manipulates the elderly in some manner (really upsets me) so I would be calling the head office. All the best to you and your family.

You are right, they are not interested in anything other than to make more money. Even after the discounts up to 35% the prices are still over the top. It hit me hard when she said “if I take these pills after a bad meal, then it won’t be stored as fat.” I was extremely pissed. When I go home I will meet these people that are filling her head up with this nonsense. I might even wear a tight ass shirt so my eminence is known!

Also those vitamins that you are taking make me feel great as well. I was running on four hours of sleep today trying to finish some college work and I didn’t even need to nap today. I woke up feeling like I had 8 hours of sleep. I even had the energy to go to the gym even though I didn’t plan on it.

To pay a pyramid of people in a multi-level scheme the money has to come from somewhere, and referral commissions, salesman’s commissions etc. are just added to the cost of the product, resulting in an overpriced product, not necessarily a better one. Buying ‘as close to source’ (i.e. from the manufacturer) as possible cuts out layers of unnecessary expenditure, without sacrificing quality.
