Maca... pill form or powder? what do you like?

Doing some midnight surfing and researching on how to increase sperm motility and count. I also mostly ejaculate more of a sticky thicker semen. The amount is kind of pathetic at times.. other times I get a good amount.

Basically my wife and I are trying to conceive and having some problems. I havent got tested yet neither has she for any underlying problems. We are planning to get checked in the next two months tho. Her doctor recommended trying for four months with her taking clomid. Two months down no luck.

Doing some research ive found this Maca to be the next step. What I really need to know is where to get the best formulation for the money. I was looking at gnc… vitamin shoppe body building even found this website that carries the powder form in a red and black formulation. Dont know if I can list actual websites. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Definetly Maca power for her and for you mix a little up to half a teaspoon in the mornings.

Maca is more of a food than a supplement. You really need large volumes to get any benefits. Hence, the pill form is pretty much worthless.

Furthermore, it’s a food that really needs to be cooked to be consumed … comfortably.

Alternatively, you can look for gelatinized powder. The active ingredients are more available in these powders and you won’t have the stomach issues you’ll get from others.

Thats what im getting from everything.. powder is the best way. Im just in the market for something to make me shoot like I use to and to find something to raise my count. I was reading thru the holy grail post too. I forget what it was called but I know the l arginine or something and something else like the lethicine? Ill have to look again. Would those vitamins be better or the Maca.

There is two separate issues in your statement
1 is to make you shoot and that is quanitty rather than quality may try fresh ginger in your teas and eat fresh sliced or grated
2 quality well there is one root you can try to get fresh but it will be hard to obtain where you are located fresh galangal increases motility as well as semen count

Powder. You can find it cheap on Amazon.

How do you use the powder? Doesn’t mix well at all. I still have some after a couple years because it’s such a pain.

I add it to smoothies.

Mine goes into my protein shakes.

When I have managed to consume it, that’s been my impression as well.

Herbs are interesting, not everyone responds the same, some don’t respond, some don’t give it enough time or the right conditions to respond. Some don’t notice the response because it is small or masked by something else, I’ll take a chance on Maca for a while. :)

This study was a 12-week double blind placebo-controlled, randomized, parallel trial in which active treatment with different doses of Maca Gelatinizada was compared with placebo. The study aimed to demonstrate if effect of Maca on subjective report of sexual desire was because of effect on mood or serum testosterone levels. Men aged 21-56 years received Maca in one of two doses: 1,500 mg or 3,000 mg or placebo. Self-perception on sexual desire, score for Hamilton test for depression, and Hamilton test for anxiety were measured at 4, 8 and 12 weeks of treatment. An improvement in sexual desire was observed with Maca since 8 weeks of treatment. Serum testosterone and oestradiol levels were not different in men treated with Maca and in those treated with placebo (P:NS). Logistic regression analysis showed that Maca has an independent effect on sexual desire at 8 and 12 weeks of treatment, and this effect is not because of changes in either Hamilton scores for depression or anxiety or serum testosterone and oestradiol levels. In conclusion, treatment with Maca improved sexual desire.

Abstract
AIMS OF THE STUDY:
Maca (Lepidium meyenii Walp) is consumed both as a sports supplement by strength and endurance athletes, and as a natural stimulant to enhance sexual drive. However, whether or not the postulated benefits of maca consumption are of scientific merit is not yet known. The aim of the study was therefore to investigate the effect of 14 days maca supplementation on endurance performance and sexual desire in trained male cyclists.
MATERIALS AND METHODS:
Eight participants each completed a 40 km cycling time trial before and after 14 days supplementation with both maca extract (ME) and placebo, in a randomised cross-over design. Subjects also completed a sexual desire inventory during each visit.
RESULTS:
ME administration significantly improved 40 km cycling time performance compared to the baseline test (P=0.01), but not compared to the placebo trial after supplementation (P>0.05). ME administration significantly improved the self-rated sexual desire score compared to the baseline test (P=0.01), and compared to the placebo trial after supplementation (P=0.03).
CONCLUSIONS:
14 days ME supplementation improved 40 km cycling time trial performance and sexual desire in trained male cyclists. These promising results encourage long-term clinical studies involving more volunteers, to further evaluate the efficacy of ME in athletes and normal individuals and also to explore its possible mechanisms of action.

I’ve seen those studies, which convinced me that Maca does nothing actually. Those are flawed studies, with too small samples and improper methodology, some of them performed by the very same authors. They failed to show any hormonal changes and based their conclusions on subjective feelings.

That is my main concern. The quality of the sperm. But I was thinking if I could increase the quantity of my semen would help too. My thinking is if I shoot a small amount of semen the sperm have more work to do to get where they need to be. And I admit it I dont have the biggest unit around. Im a little over 5 inches erect. So that is my thinking. If I increase the amount of semen and also increase motility our odds of getting pregnant would dramatically increase.

So I still have people saying yay for maca and nay for maca. Maybe I will just try it out. So that said, which is a reputable brand for maca. Ive found pill form is not recommended. Ive found this stuff by googling maca and it comes in a red and black maca. Not saying that is the color but the two have different properties. Ill post the link but I apologize in adavance if im not allowed..

Well I just read a lot of you guys are saying not to waste my money.. then what would be the best. I tried reading thru the holy grail post but there are just to many post and I cannot decipher which is recommended and what is not. That is the reason I opened this up so I can have it tailored to me.

You guys know what I am looking for in the above post. How can I achieve my goals? The next step is going to a specialist and getting my count checked out and to make sure everything is working properly. Until then id like to have your opinions.
