I’m still wondering about the hair growth thing. As leatherface asked, were you going bald?

My hair was thinning r/t illness this was in addition to hair that had been thinning for ten years. I was on glutamine for about a month going to do it again soon. Note that I was also taking gensing which probably had something to do with hair growth as well, ginseng improves circulation. Glutamine is good for intestinal healing which is one of the reasons I was using it. Some muscles had atrophied as well r/t anemia and the glutamine help restore muscle tone and growth.

I regularly take siberian gensing, american and korean gensing, they help bring up white blood cell counts as well as red blood cell counts. My hematicrit fell to about 9 normal is 14.

Thank you kingpole for the clarification, and the information.

Your welcome.

Glutamine is also great for diabetics reducing blood sugar by half.

It also seems that glutamine makes arginine work better. Arginine also reduces blood sugar.

For those who are trying to lose weight glutamine reduces body fat by 10%.

Carrots are high in glutamine.

What study was this published in, I’m curious?

In what way does arginine “work”?

What were the doses used in the study you are quoting? Was there any diet or exercise regiment implimented?

Yet, any complete protein source will supply much more glutamine than carrots. Especially dairy products.

I love GOLD

For the glutamine. I did no know that glutamine facilitated arginine until I read the glutamine print out. I knew both the amino acids reduced blood sugar by reading “Life Extensions” online thread on how to reduce blood sugar.
It appears that one way glutamine reduces elevated blood sugar is by decreasing a persons appetite for carbohydrates.
Note: candida albicans yeast destroys glutamine. Stress and exercise depletes glutamine.
Glutamine supplementation increases arginine in the kidneys
The source I got the glutamine information from is called. (Hyperhealth natural health & nutrition CD-ROM 2001 version)

3-5 grams of glutamine.
1-6 grams of arginine.
These are the supplemental dosages of these two amino acids:

Read this in May/07 issue of “Mens Health” “Beat high blood pressure” Arginne rich foods decrease blood pressure(I suppose by raising nitrous oxide). And lowers blood sugar. This is a paraphrase not a direct quote. Page 116, paragraph 3. How arginine does this I’m not sure, I’m going to get a print out for arginine today from the health food store.

I asume through diet that I get some 5-6 grams of glutamine, I take in 100-130 grams of lean protein per day and I use gltamine poweder between 4-7 grams per day.
I’m not sure the amount of arginine I’m getting probably 2100mg for sure from the four tablespoons of peanut butter I use in my recovery shakes.

Yes your correct about protein sources of glutamine. The average healthy diet supplies about 7 grams of glutamine per day. Protein encourages hypertrophy of muscles and in turn bigger muscles burn more calories. This is a no brainer.

Exercise is a component of the two amino acids ability to build muscle. However I speculate that the blood sugar reducing effect is independant of exercise.

It is proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that if diabetics increase there protein intake and reduce there carbohydrate intake down to less than 200 grams that their blood sugar goes down. Further more if you eat the protein with the carbohydrate the protein slows the carbohydrates rate of increasing blood sugar.
I’m living proof this works.

Hmm, I wonder if glutamine is good for GERD?

Speak softly carry a big dick, I'm mean stick!

Glutamine appears to be helpful for GERD.

Apr 25, 2007 .. Glutamine for heartburn could possibly be a partial, if not a total cure. Until heartburn, acid reflux, and GERD are understood and treated ..

I do to, if I had some orange juice I would stir some into it and drink it.

Is it possiable to take glutamine with arginine together on an empty stomach before you go to bed..Im just wondering if they cancell each other out?

Or is it possiable to have glutamine in a protein shake? i usually put 7-10 grams in my shake after a workout.
