L- Arginine

L- Arginine

Hi guys!

I have a question about L-arginine..

I know what it does etc, amino acid (repairs cells, increases blood flow due to nitric oxide thing), and with blood flow all the healing, or repairs happen, and it’s the closest you get to natural healing.

My question is, why do athletes use L-arginine? Does it do something else than increase blood flow? Is it something like steroids? Because I know for a fact steroids/anabolics affect your dick massively, and I don’t want to take L-arginine if it will affect my sexual health in a negative way.

From the research that I have done on L-Arginine, a lot of people use it for different treatments such as poor blood circulation to the heart, brain etc etc.. The key is the blood circulation which essentially cures everything, even penile damage.

I had done some damage to the penis last year, and discussed with some of the members here on thunders, I assume my last years thread is expired and deleted.

However, I think the damage is slowly reversing due to my consistent gym work outs, and some supplement I take (vitamin E + zinc). I’m considering adding L-arginine to my diet/supplements as well, because all the feedback on L-arginine regarding penile healing is positive. So, essentially my work outs will increase the blood flow as well as keep me fit, the vitamin E + zinc will repair cells, and L-arginine will produce the nitric oxide thing, to speed up all my healing.

All I’m concerned about is I hope L-arginine is made out of natural things and not something that is artificial such as steroids which will impact both my sexual and overall health. Does L-arginine give any long term permanent damage?

Thanks for reading my post, sorry if the questions appear stupid for you.

Regards,

Max

L-Arginine is an amino acid already present in your body, taking L-Arginine supplement has been shown to have a number of benefits.

I used l-arginine for 3 months and it was great. Got improved erections and I could run much longer distances easier. I stopped using it because I was afraid of side effects. Example if you use it for 2-3 years and then suddenly stop it, you would have very poor circulation because getting used to the drug. Bad case scenario would be even erectile dysfunction problems. One should start using it only when really needed.

In addition to the improvements to my sexual performance I also see a difference in the gym. When I take L-arginine I can loose weight and I gain muscle easier. I have tried with and without and I could definitely tell the difference. I have not had any side effects. I have never taken steroids so I can’t compare the effects of the two.

When taken in large quantities (3-5 grams per day I believe) it supposedly can also increase levels of human growth hormone within your system; this claim isn’t backed by the FDA though.

That’s not even close to steriods man. Believe me. lol
L-arginine is included in most of the NO2 products designed to improve oxygen retention in the blood while working out. That causes a greater pump, which means a greater internal pressure in the muscle while heavy lifting. Increased pressure means more fibers broken, more mass gained at the moment of recovery.

Present: 8.75" BPEL, 9.25" BPSFL, 5.3" EG

Goal: 1' BPEL, 6.5" EG

As mentioned above, Arginine (as well as Ornithine) has been shown to be a human growth hormone precursor - in other words, it causes your body to release more of it. Human growth hormone, or HGH, has been shown to increase muscle mass, decrease fat, speed healing, and basically turn back the aging clock.

That being said, my doctor (John Crisler, DO) who manages my hormone replacement therapy (I’m hypogonadic, or don’t make enough testosterone, so I get shots) said that for all purposes, the effect is negligible for most people. So, while I take arginine every day for increased blood flow, I don’t take it thinking I’ll get buff and toned. I take it to increase the NO2 production and I’ve also noticed an obvious increase in my flaccid hang when I take it.

Prior to sex I take arginine to increase the quality and strength of my erection, as well as to increase my ejaculate volume. I think taking it in conjunction with cialis is a great idea, and you can probably take less and get the same effect. Some people take arginine INSTEAD of the ED meds.

I take a multi vitamin called Animal Pak that has 2g of L-arginine in it along with a lot of other good stuff. It makes your pee glow, but I hope it is helping me. :)

If my pee glowed I’d be doing a show at the rave!

Recognize.

Ha, I’ll look into that.

It looks like the stuff that fills glow sticks…not even kidding.

That’s mainly the B2 that’s making your pee glow. And the only problem with mixing arginine in with other nutrients is that sometimes they compete to get into your system. You’re better off taking arginine by itself or with co-factors to help it be more efficacious.

I have heard about how some supplements use the same receptors and if you do not do them separately, it won’t work. Do you know of any good site that explains what you can take together, when to take it and what not to take it with? It is all so complex.

Take this with food, take this on an empty stomach, don’t take this with this, take this with this for best results, take this at night, take this in the morning……It never ends.

Thanks for your reply guys!

The reason I’m considering taking L-arginine is because, last year on June 12, after a significant break from PE I jumped on the advanced exercises (advanced jelqing in particular, well applied more pressure than usual lets say)..

I damaged my Corpora Spongiosum I think, which resulted in weaker erections for example while standing straight etc, or lying down.. Also had some pain in the form of pins and needles.. So every time during an erection my Corp spongiosum would stay soft as opposed to before it was hard, and the blood circulation reduced because of that..

The urologist I visited we’re useless, said I was fine, when I wasn’t, mainly probably because it’s a public hospital in the UK and public health (free health care) care is SH**, docs don’t care!

I found someone on Thunders who had the same problem as me, and he had done a lot of research on that problem as well.. So his theory was that we damaged the penis which caused internal bleeding, that needs to heal up..

So, the target was not to masturbate for 3 months, because in doing so it will lower the nitric oxide levels, which will drop the healing process to zero again..

So to heal this problem that I got, I need to masturbate less to maintain the NO levels, work out to increase my blood circulation and take Vitamin E + zinc to repair, as well as start taking L-Arginine, which will increase my NO levels to speed up my healing and get me back on track..

I don’t know if anyone around here had this problem, but I feel like I’m fighting this battle alone :( .. I’m not giving up though, because this guy who has the same problem gave me lots of hope, and said the damage is 100% healable, and the erections will get back to normal.

So I guess I will start taking L-arginine, if you guys say that nothing negative out of it.

Thanks for listening guys!

Best Regards,
Max

One risk in taking arginine is that if you already have a cancerous tumor in your body, arginine will cause it to grow. Seems a fairly small risk, but you should know about it.

I think I’d take nutrients that also speed healing - like vitamin C. If I were you, I’d take several grams of arginine and several grams of buffered vitamin C. Non-buffered - like ascorbic acid - in high doses will cause some digestive problems and tummy aches. But sodium ascorbate, or another non-acid form, should work fine. Don’t bother with ester-C, though, as the data on it is scanty at best and suspect at worst, and it costs a heckuva lot more.
gigolo, I’ll see if I can find a site that lists what should/shouldn’t be taken at the same time. Won’t be today, though.
