L-Arginine Vs. Lysine

So I’ve been reading up and people seem to say that L-Arginine will give you a bigger flaccid and more cum and stuff like that. Others even claim it helps in PE’ing. I’ve been getting cold sores my whole life since I was a toddler and I hate them. They’re embarrassing and shitty and they make me not want to leave the house. It’s just something I have to live with and it’s been a part of me since birth.

I researched enough to find out that a lysine pill a day will help prevent cold sores. So I started buying lysine and I’ve been taking them for a few months now with no cold sores :) .

Now I also read here on the site that the ratio of L-Arginine to Lysine is what determines how effective the L-Arginine will be (IE. more cum, bigger flaccid, and also possibly better PE results?).

My question is this. By taking this excessive amount of Lysine everyday to prevent herpes break outs am I killing my PE results? I’m getting back into PE now and when I did it before I wasn’t taking the Lysine nor was I taking L-Arginine. Now that I’m taking a lot of Lysine will this make the ratio of L-Arganine to Lysine very small and as a result hurt my PE progress/cum amount/flaccid hang?

Also I remember reading that an excess of L-Arginine causes Herpes breakouts (high ratio of L-Arginine to Lysine which I try and counter with Lysine supplements). So I can’t sacrifice taking Lysine in exchange for herpes breakouts so can anyone tell me if taking the Lysine is hurting my PE or sex life at all?

I think a good amount ratio would be 2:1 or 3:1 in favor of L-A (depending on how much you take). There’s no which one is better. They work together, but for someone like me who got a dormant infection from it, I would have to use Lysine (which I didn’t before and that’s the reason why it happened).

*For proven thought, the whey powder I’m using has no issues because when it sees L-A the Lysine counteracts the bad reaction and tells it to fuck off :) .

I would take them at the same time too. From what I was told, doesn’t it make anyone else’s cum taste exactly like the powder or am I just too out there…

Ok. I’ll try to make it more clear…

L-A is what helps with the penis (and overall blood circulation become more free flowing). Lysine helps with counteracting dormant infections that can pop out from the L-A (among other things). I’m referring when these 2 are used together at once. Some people can take straight L-A and have no problems, but seeing you already have a problem it’s ok to take Lysine with L-A - [people that have either minor issues that mysteriously appear *when on L-A alone* (me) or people that already have issues, not from the L-A intake alone, you, should take lysine when taking L-A]. From what I understand, you would need a bigger ratio of L-A (2:1 is good start) compared to Lysine to see a noteworthy difference downstairs.

Did I hit home?

Yes, but my point is that I’m worried to take 2:1 L-A to L or more because that will most likely result in an outbreak.

Preventing cold sores is more important than supplementing l-arginine. Arginine will do very little for your PE progress compared to the actual workouts.

The biochemistry is quite complex, indeed. The ratio is important, and you may be negating the positives of lysine supplementation by taking arginine. Arginine is not essential, so don’t worry about taking it.

Peanut butter has both arginine and lysine, why spend $$ on A suplements when PB has 700mg/one tablespoon and a hefty amount of lysine as well

Johnno I’m in the same boat as you, I get cold sores… I fuckin hate em, the past 6 months I think I’ve had like 3 breakouts? shitty. It seems like when I go outside w/out spf on my lips I’m vulnerable.

I would say fuck arginine, b/c if you get a cold sore you, if you’re like me, won’t want to touch your dong for a couple of weeks.

Lol, I know. When I get an outbreak I don’t want to even try to PE for fear of a transfer. Plus I’m so depressed and discouraged from it usually that I don’t even have the energy to do it.

So what’s the generel consensus? Is it the ratio of arg to lys that matters with PE’ing/Bigger flaccid or is it just the overall amount of arg, and does lys hurt my PE’ing?

My guess is that the ratio is not that important. Both amino acids are present in plentiful amounts in most protein containing foods. Arginine works by promoting the generation of NO2, and that will happen regardless of the amount of Lysine present, I think. (All bioactive amino acids are the L form so it isn’t necessary to put the L before arginine, especially if you don’t put it before lysine).

You’re fine. Amino acids occur naturally in any foods with protein in them (that’s quite a lot). Your body uses what it needs to build cells/tissue and the rest is either stored as fat or glycogen, converted to glucose for energy (gluconeogenesis), or crapped out.

Most of the people have HSV1. The virus is in dormant state most of the time and get activated under physical/mental stress.
I get one outbreak after dosing 3 to 4 grams of L-Arg continuously for 1 to 2 months. I took L-Lysine to counteract it.

I’m off from L-Arg from almost six months and I never had any outbreak since then.

YES: you should take at least 1 gram (500 mg morning and night) of L-Lysine, and stay away from arginine supplements and arginine-rich foods (nuts, chocolate, etc). The body will pick up the lysine instead of the arginine, and you will have fewer cold sores. But it takes at least 1 gram a day, and can take up to 4 months to reach maximum effectiveness (a rate of 43% fewer breakouts).

I am getting ready to market a supplement that contains several herbs that kill herpes, as well as lysine, in case you’re interested. With professional packaging, marketing, etc (I am in advertising). Ingredients include red marine algae and nopal cactus. Olive leaf extract is good too, but it and lysine counter-act each other, so there’s no point in taking both.
