L-arginine and exercising

I read in a recent article in men’s health magazine that L-arginine relaxes the muscle in the penis and therefore brings an increase in bloodflow to the penis.

If this is the case would this be beneficial to PE’ing or lead to less gains?

There are a number of guys here who use L-a, including me. Do a search of this site (“L-arginine”) and you’ll find some posts.

I can’t say if it helps gains but it sure seems to increase flaccid hang and ejaculate volume for me. You have to be on it for about a week before you notice anything.

How much do you usually take per day total, at what times, and before/during/after meals or what.

How much and when do people normally take L-arginine and L-glutamine during the day??

Can’t speak for L-glutamine - which I haven’t tried. Should I?

I take 1 gram on waking, 1 gram late in the day, and often 1.5 grams at bedtime. All on an empty stomach. I take more at bedtime because I am a little older than most of you and find that the L-a seems to encourage more frequent nocturnal erections which I know to be very healthy events for sexually active people.

The more erections you have, the more you’re likely to have?

I can dig you up some recent references if you like, but L-glutamine is considered to be a very good thing. It’s generally taken in large amounts, 5 gms or more, because the GI tract gulps it up first and leaves very little for the rest of the bod.

Ummmmmm. I love the all-nighters. Three grams of L-Arg generally does the trick.

Are you inferring that you either regularly, or occasionally, consume 3 grams of L-Arginine at bed time for an “all night erection?”

Does this amount at one time bother you, in any way, with side effects Like diarrhea or light headedness?

I have tried up to 2.75 grams, with no gauranteed results at all, other than a larger than normal flaccid member and slight light headedness the following day.
I have been using, one 500mg. Arginmax and one 750mg.(jarrows formula) Arginine & Ornithine regularly, every morning for about 6 weeks.
Once in a while I try an increased dosage in the evening, but I’m not sure how much I can safely take.
Do you have any opinion on this?
I would really like to find someway to get a more predictable outcome.

Here goes. I hope there isn’t a copyright problem with doing it this way. This is the most recent reference I’ve seen, but there are many many more.

GROW WITH GLUTAMINE Glutamine is the most prevalent amino acid in muscle tissue. Unfortunately, a lot of what you take orally is absorbed by cells in the intestines and never makes it to the muscles. Supplement heavily with L-glutamine - some bodybuilders take as much as 20 grams a day. Yes, I’ve taken either 3 Arginmaxes and 2 Jarrow 1 gm Arginines or just 3 Jarrows.

No, but I think I could take 5 grams of the Jarrow formula at one time.

the lightheadedness might come from the ornithine you are taking. supposedly it has some side effects that l-arg and l-glu dont have.
