How much of a vitamin can be absorbed before disposed by the body?

How much of a vitamin can be absorbed before disposed by the body?

One of my friends is under the impression that the body cannot physically absorb more Vitamin C then the 100% Daily Recommended Value (DRV). She claims to have read it in her nutrition book. Well, I was wondering if that is really true or not. Nearly all Vitamin C pills contain over 1200% DRV. Why would companies do this if we are only absorbing less than 10% of the pill?

RDA as limits? Fucking please! Vitamin C is a co factor to a shitload of amino acids. You can soak up way more, depending on certain factors, but the question is why exactly would you want to do that? Sure orthomolecular solutions work, but they are executed by the person usually all wrong with little to no, even conflicting data.

Ortho did/does have a love affair with D for a bit there.

She’s reading the Recommended daily dose as the maximum dose.

The RDD iis simply a guidance as to how much is necessary by the average adult/child

The bare minimum necessary to prevent deficiency diseases like scruvy, etc. The amount for peak performance would obviously be much more.
