horny goat weed

I have just ordered 4 baby epimedium (horny goat weed) plants. I will be planting two of them in my garden and potting two indoors. I plan to grow them fairly large and take leaf clippings regularly, for my own use. I have ordered epimedium grandiflorum, but epimedium sagittatum and several other epimedium are considered horny goat weed.

I wanted to inform you all that they are fairly common choices amongst gardeners and horticulturalists because they are nice ornamental plants. So there is no reason why you can’t order a couple on the internet to be delivered to your house and grow them yourselves. They only cost about £3/$6 for each baby and you can grow them to cover a nice plot in the garden, providing you with all you require for less than pennies. They like shade or dappled shade, as they are forrest floor dwellers. They like a slightly moist soil. Too much sun will kill them. If you live somewhere very dry, you can either keep them potted indoors in large tray pots, or you can water them generously every day in the garden, with a mulch around the roots to stop the moisture evaporating. They must be kept out of direct sun exposure. No more than dappled sunshine.

I intend to grow the babies into decent sized plants and split the root balls of each one into two every year, so that I can plant them to cover a nice big area under my apple tree, in a dappled shady spot. Once they are established, they won’t need hardly any attention. Just a nice watering when it hasn’t rained.

The leaves are the parts used to make horny goat weed. All you need to do is take a few leaves here and there, once they are well established and thriving. In spring, after they have stopped flowering and in autumn/fall, you can cut all the leaves off. The leaves can be stewed in a teapot to release the active properties. If you have cut all the leaves off in spring or autum/fall, let them dry and use them over time.

Hey there…what is it for (horny goat weed)? I am totally clueless.

You don't have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.

Zig Ziglar

You really shouldn’t have given this information to me, being the gardening expert that I most certainly am. They will be everywhere in the blink of an eye. I have such perfect growing conditions I fear.

It’s all in the name anna, the Horny part in particular!

It’s supposed to be an aphrodisiac for men, and increases erection hardness too. I’ve got a suppliment that has a mixture of it with some other beneficial herbs, just to try it out. It seems to make me really horney all the time, but then again, I’ve got an insane sex drive as it is. I’ve been learning to become multi-orgasmic from this awesome book called “The Multi-Orgasmic Man”, so it helps me generate alot of sexual energy to work with for this purpose. (Its really incredible to move your orgasms through your body and not ejaculate, so you can keep orgasming as much as you can handle. And then you feel high for like an hour after!) But as for the herb it seems pretty good, though probably better if you were having problems sexually, when you are sexually healthy I don’t think it does as much.

:flame: "If you build it, they will cum."

I would just like to clarify that I would be growing it for decoration only. Though I can’t help but wonder what would happen, if I should brush up against it, by accident, or by design?

Anna, have a look at these two links. They will tell you about the uses of horny goat weed for both men and women.

Rousseau, here’s where I ordered my epimedium grandiflorum if you are interested.

For anyone interested in ordering epimedium plants in the US, try below. I reccomend the epimedium grandiflorum for $5.50, as it’s one of the types of epimedium used in supplements a lot, so go with what the professionals choose to harvest for use.

Thunder, I haven’t seen any literature to imply that it is unsafe in any way. What do you mean by volatile? Do you mean dangerous or just full of pungant oils?

Is this plant drought resisant, and will it stand large temp shifts. I hope it is like most weeds. and grows fast.

We are talking weeds here Sundance?

There are some new breeds which have been bred to be more hardy and drought resistant but they will not thrive in such conditions. They need shade and they always prefer moist soil, even if some can survive in a dryer soil. They can’t survive long in constant direct sunlight though.

It isn’t really a weed. It could only become a weed in a forrested, or shaded environment. In any case, it’s too pretty to be thought of as a weed. It’s a well prized ornamental plant. As for growth speed, I think I read that some breeds spread at the rate of 8 inches a year. I could have misinterpretted what they were stating though.
