Enzymes For Tummy Trouble May Also Help Autistic Kids

SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. (Wireless Flash) — A blend of over-the-counter enzymes designed to reduce flatulence is making life easier to stomach for kids with autism.
Arkansas-based biochemist Dr. Devin Houston says he designed his “HN-Zyme”-brand enzyme tablets to help people who can’t stomach wheat and lactose products — a problem suffered by many folks with autism.

Houston says autistics commonly suffer digestive problems like chronic diarrhea unless they stick to a strict diet.

Luckily for him, he says parents who’ve given his tablets to autistic kids report improvements in “bathroom areas.”

The better digestion may also help the kids’ cognitive abilities as well. Houston has hundreds of letters from satisfied customers who claim their kids have taken drastic “steps forward” because of the enzymes.

However, Houston insists more research must be done before the enzymes can be considered a treatment for autism.
