Medical research regarding xanthoparmelia scabrosa is difficult to find. Xanthoparmelia is a lichen found throughout the world including China, Hong Kong, Australia, and South America. Xanthoparmelia has been promoted as an aphrodisiac although no clear research evidence exists at this time.
What’s in Xanthoparmelia?
A number of chemicals are found in xanthoparmelia scabrosa including epipolythiopiperazinediones. Xanthoparmelia in bulk powder form is a brownish color, and the taste is not bitter.

Xanthoparmelia Caution
I have only come across one study regarding xanthoparmelia scabrosa (see below) and it concerns me since there may be toxins in this lichen, but at the same time these toxins are able to kill cancer cells. So, not much can be said for sure till we have at least a couple of more studies.

Summary
At this point I am not in a position to recommend the use of xanthoparmelia scabrosa as a sexual herb or erectile dysfunction until more is known regarding its alleged aphrodisiac properties or potential toxicity. Preliminary studies show some of the compounds in cnidium may have anti-histamine, anti-itch, anti-fungal, and anti-bacterial effects, along with having an influence on the pituitary-adrenocortex axis. Additional studies on rodents indicate that cnidium may improve bone strength (coumarins from fruits of cnidium inhibit formation and differentiation of multinucleated osteoclasts of rats). In rabbits, a coumarin compound found in cnidium called osthol or osthole was found to help relax the corpus cavernosa of the penis, which would potentially help with blood flow in those with erectile dysfunction. Cnidium may also have anti-cancer properties. As of September 2004, no human trials have been published on Medline regarding the clinical use of cnidium.

I know I’m viewing this add quite late. I don’t normally respond to post over a week old but beings I am too busy too do the thunder thing everyday I thought I would add my erection enhancing formula to the list.

Lurker!!! These herbs are found in china as well as in hong Kong. Run a search on google . In fact there are some big exporters in China. I must also suggest that Xanthoparmelia scabrosa has certain toxins which a person may find allergic.
