Jelqing Injury Worried and Scared

Jelqing Injury Worried and Scared

Hey guys I know this isnt the right spot for the post but I’m in dire need of some advice. I already have a doctors appointment for this friday and understand no one here is a doctor or claims to be one. I just really need some advice on what you guys think is going on. I started jelqing in April maybe did it 5-10 times max, did the proper warm up/warm down and was experiencing good results. The blood flow to my penis was increasing and everything was going great. Then all of a sudden I was jelqing and my penis went completely limp and this is where my problems started.

I know have a constant pain at the top base of my penis (where it is connected to the pube area) along with this I don’t get anymore morning erections and it hurts to touch my penis. If I do get even remotely hard it is about 2-3 inches with the head of my penis not swelling up like normal. It is also usually always turtled during the day without much movement. Its like none of the blood will reach the tip of my penis. This has been going on for a little over a week and I am freaking out. I will continue to rest and wait for the the doctors reply. I would love some advice, encouragement, personal anecdotes anything that can help me get through this. Any insight is appreciated and I look forward to hearing everyones replies.

No need to be worried or scared. This has happened to quite a few people here including myself. Tell me about your technique, what you were doing prior to injury and what your PIs were. PI info can be found here.

How Lack you have been so helpful to me and it means a lot. My technique was I was starting at the base of my penis with hand using the ok grip, holding it there and then using my other hand to stroke upwards just to the glands and repeat. I had been doing this for several days and noticed my penis was fuller and blood was flowing it was great. I think my grip was to hard, I have always had a heavy hand when masturbating and I think it carried over to the jelqing unfortunately and I didn’t realize I was hurting myself because I felt no pain and only experienced positive side effects. Then one day I was jelqing, and had read about edging afterwards. So after about 10 minutes of jelqing I went to start edging and that is when all of a sudden my penis went limp. Now I have a pain where my penis connects to my pube area, and the blood flow is not nearly as good. When I start to get an “erection” it seems like it can’t reach the head of my penis, it only feels like the shaft gets enough blood. I am a bit worried and don’t know what to do at this point. Does this sound like anything that has happened before? And has anyone been in pain for mulitple weeks while healing?

I’ve had pain on the left side of my penis and low erection levels that didn’t quite reach the head of my penis for up to six months in the past but that was because of too vigorous sex. I’ve always been overly cautious with PE but have caused myself some periodic discomfort and low erection levels.

You remarked about pain on top and the associated deflated head so I will reference anatomy to relieve your fears. The penis is comprised of two named chambers. The Corpus Cavernosa (CC) is the chambers on either side of your penis. It is responsible for your shaft erection. The other chamber is called the Corpus Spongiosum (CS). The CS engorges your lower shaft and inflates the head. The. CS is located on the bottom of your shaft so pain on the top does not translate to the erect state of your head.

What you seem to be describing could be one of three things: The CC nerve, dorsal vein and associated artery or just some connective tissue. There isn’t much feeling in the vein/artery and damage to these would likely give you some external indicators you haven’t described. Since you mentioned being rough during jelqing/ masterbation along with using an OK grip which puts pressure on the nerve, im going to suggest you have some slight nerve impingement. The pain in conjunction with your concern is keeping you from getting a full erection (soft head). The nerve will heal as long as you leave it alone for a while. Healing time depends on the individual.

When you start PE again, use a C grip instead of the OK grip so you can reduce stress on the nerve. You’ll be alright, buddy. Don’t worry.

Thanks again How Lack, you really are keeping me level headed and you don’t know how much I apprecaite it. From everything you said you definitely ease my worries. Thats good news because I have no pain on the bottom of my penis, only on the top of the shaft where it connects to my body. My penis does seem quite tight though and the shaft is a little sore. I am just curious what do you recommend as far as helping the healing process? Any specific vitamins or minerals that could help? I have been using heat, and ice initially after it happened but have stopped the ice since. Plus for some reason heat doesnt seem to ease the pain as much as I thought it would. I assume it gets better circulation when I use heat so thats a plus but like I said doesnt do much for the pain. My penis just seems somewhat deflated right now which is a bit discouraging but you are helping me keep a positive attitude. I’m only 25 and am just a bit freaked out by the situation. I’m going to keep at it like you said and just rest and hope for the best. Once again man your a life saver and I appreciate the response and any other insight you may have is appreciated more then you know. (Also what would those external indicators be?)

Blood vessels are extremely tough but they can burst under extreme pressure. You would likely see swelling and bruising at the injury site.

I would suggest keeping your appointment with the urologist this Friday. He can prescribe you something for the pain if it isn’t bearable. Heat increases blood flow which promotes healing. Ice reduces inflammation which can help with swelling or pain. Neither of these things will help your nerves heal. Time and rest is the only thing that you need, in my opinion. Keep us posted.

Another possible culprit for your pain is a torn suspensatory ligament. However, jelqing alone wouldn’t cause this injury.

Thanks again How Lack your insight is much apprecaited! Quick question of everything you mentioned are any of them permanent or will all heal over time? Would I be able to tell if I had a torn ligament? The best way I can explain the pain is a tight feeling where it connects to pubic area. Also another thing I noticed is that it has been pulsating a bit in that area which slightly raises my penis as it happens. Last night I actually got a 70% erection out of nowhere which is keeping me hopeful. And also what specifically should I tell the docotor? I want him to take me seriouisly, and not think that this is all in my head because something is definitely wrong. I plan on telling him everyting I have told you, but should I make suggestions as to what I think it may be? The reason I ask this is because of some of the things I have read doctors a lot of time are quick to chalk this all up to anxiety or something of that nature.

Hi Coolguy1234,

Actually there are a few medical people on these forums: doctors, physios and other allied health professionals. Qualified people are less likely to give advice because they/we understand that it is impossible to give a diagnosis over the internet.

That said, a few things that may help put your mind at ease. I have never heard a report of a member sustaining a permanent injury from jelqing. There have been many injuries, however they usually resolve in weeks or in the extreme, a few months.

As “How lack” has pointed out, if you had ruptured a major vessel, you would have bruising if it was superficial; or at least some swelling (perhaps becoming lumpy) if it was deep.

If you have insured the dorsal nerve(s) in a significant way you would most likely have tingling or numbness on at least one side of your penis (there are two dorsal nerves, each runs superiorly to the CC deep to the Buck’s fasica).

“How lack” mentioned the suspensionary ligament; there is a actually a lot of connective tissue in the penis comprising of ligaments and several layers of fascia.

Injury to the penis from jelqing is usually minor and involves a small tear that sets up an inflammatory response. The body has an innate intelligence for healing and in this case would involve complete rest for the penis i.e. no stretch from erections or otherwise. Inability to get a good erection after a big PE session may be due to an inflammatory response. This may resolve in hours or days but in the event of a more significant injury, weeks.

To complicate things, one of the biggest impediments to getting a good erection is anxiety. When you have an injury you basically have everything stacked against you:- mentally and physically.

In the event of a minor injury (no significant pain or bruising or disfiguration); the best thing you can do is leave it alone and focus on something else while it gets better.

There are medications and supplements that can help healing and erections, but I can’t give advice on that. Rest is the biggest factor.

Good luck and tell us what the urologist says!

You’re already starting to heal. Nothing I have mentioned will last forever. If you had an injury that wouldn’t heal without surgery, you’d definitely know it. Tell the doctor what you have already planned to divulge and let him do his job. If he says there is nothing wrong, that means either there is actually nothing wrong or whatever is wrong with you is so minor he can’t help you with it. Time and rest are your new best friend.

Dont dismiss anxiety. It contributes to erection quality.

Your statement that you can only measure 70% EQ does mean nothing under anxiety.

Not saying its only anxiety, but it has its effects..

Good luck on your diagnosis and get well soon!

Thanks guys you are all extremely helpful. You are definitely helping put my mind at ease that this is all temporary and I will come back 100%. Someone like me who does not have anyone to talk to about this stuff, its hard to express how much this really helps me mentally.

Yes, you are right about anxiety, though it does play some part I know that I at least have some type of injury that I will have to just wait out. My doctor appointment tomorrow is just with my GP not a urologist and I’m going to see if he thinks I should be referred to one. I might just ask him to refer me to one just for my own peice of mind anyways but he is my first step.

One of the things I didnt mention is prior to this I had been doing regular kegals for a few months. I don’t know if maybe that tightens the muscle and made it more susceptible to injury but if you were to flex your penis like your doing a kegal that is where the pain is coming from, that generally area. I will keep everyone posted on what the doc says tomorrow and if you guys have any extra insight or tips for a quicker recovery it is much appreciated. Talking about this stuff really helps me mentally and all of your comments are apprecaited!

The best thing you can do right now is to not touch your dick. Let it rest and heal.
To put your mind at ease, go to the doc.

There is not much to do. To get your head straight, dabble in your other hobbies.
Unless you were squeezing the shit out of your penis with a force that would actually squash it and you were just ignoring the pain
while doing the exercise, unless you did that, it will heal if you let it rest.
Might take a few weeks. I guess in your case 1-2 weeks.
I suspect that its a slight injury which is pumped out of proportions heavily thanks to anxiety. I am talking from experience :P
I completely healed in like 1 week.

Ok guys so I went to the doctor today. I told him everything. I didnt tell him jelquing persay but I told him that I use a hard grip when I masterbate at the base of my penis and told him everything I told you guys. I didnt leave out any symptoms. He said that he thinks I strained the ligament and that I just need to take a break. He perscribed me some Nabumetone as an antiinflammatory and told me to take it easy. He basically looked at my penis and felt around a bit and said I was all good. He says he sees a lot of strains in people my age and kind of laughed about it. I still might get a second opinion because he is a GP and not a urologist. Though this does help my worrying a bit. What do you guys think?
