Jelqing caused permanent damage

This thread will be backed by medical records, tests, and surgeries performed by urologists & interventional radiologists.

*Couldn’t post this in the injury section, mods please move it there*

Brief background:

I’m a 27 yr old male with absolutely no health issues. About 6 years ago, I jelqed with a full erection and immediately thereafter, my erections were never the same. At first, I was confused and didn’t understand what was going on. Without exaggeration, I’ve seen over 40 urologists and interventional radiologists about this issue until I found a few surgeons who offered additional help (not just prescribing viagra and/or pointing to this being psychogenic.

I’ve taken half a dozen doppler ultrasounds, two MRA (angiograms), and had two surgeries. The ultrasound didn’t show anything wrong, but both MRAs showed a venous leak. Immediately after the first MRA, my urologist scheduled surgery (venous ligation and stripping surgery & bilateral varicocelectomy. After surgery, I noticed my glans improve significantly (they were much fuller than prior surgery and more sensitive), however my penile shaft still had issues achieving and sustaining an erection. About a year later, I took another MRA which still showed a venous leak. I kept trying to look for further answers and met with an interventional radiologist who decided to perform embolization and inject glue in the periprostatic plexus. His reasoning was that in this area, by injecting glue, it should help stop blood from leaving but he said this will most likely be a temporary treatment and if it works, I’ll probably need to come back to repeat this procedure if and when I needed it again. I’ve noticed slight improvements immediately after this surgery but about 1-2 weeks after, it seems everything is back to how it was prior to the embolization.

I’m not sure what to do at this stage and I’m pretty desperate for answers. Having sex feels like a chore. Prior to jelqing, I had completely normal erections with full sensitivity and could sustain it for as long as needed. Now I’m lucky if I can sustain an erection for 15 seconds consecutively. I’ve attached all important medical records in this thread for everyones perusal. Really hoping someone can help as this is my last resort.

I went ahead and attached the MRA results, and surgery medical records.

I’m waiting for my interventional radiologist to send me the medical records and will update this thread once received. I redacted any personal information from these records.

And where did you read that you jelq with a 100% erection? So you didn’t read what you should and should not do, did it wrong, and now the exercise is to blame? Nope not buying it. I feel bad that you hurt yourself but it was you and not the exercise that did it. The sooner you mentally come to grips with that the sooner you will really begin healing.

With all the respect, sounds a bit unreal.

Wish you all the best of luck with your recover in any case.

I was young and naive. I didn’t read about the potential consequences of jelqing and in nature, using your hands to stretch your penis doesn’t sound like it can permanently harm you.

There’s no way I can go back in time, so I’m looking for solutions. And right now, the only place I can turn to are the forums I started at.

Well to start maybe instead of blaming the exercise which many of us have been doing for years without a problem you should admit you screwed up. You see when you come to a place where guys have been doing it for years without problems well it like waving a red flag in front of a bull. We get a bit perturbed because you’re attacking what we do and therefore we must be doing something bad. Not a way to win friends huh?

Now tell me why having sex is a chore?

I’m speaking from my experience. I don’t know anyone personally who has jelqed that hasn’t sustained any injuries. That being said, I’m not claiming that everyone who jelqs gets injured.

Sex is considered a chore because I can’t achieve and sustain erections easily. A lot of my sensitivity was lost with the injury and the shaft becomes semi-erect during sex almost always so it’s not enjoyable.

Can you get an erection?

Sometimes I can. But it goes away very quickly if and when I do achieve it.

I’m no medical professional, but two things came to mind after reading that report. What is the cause of your testicular atrophy/low testoserone at such a young age, and are you on any hormone replacement therapy? If not, why not?

How long have you been on medications for anxiety? Any history of depression, etc?

The only constant in life is change, it is how you respond to it that determines who you are.

There’s actually no low testosterone. Dr confirmed that he only added that to the report as a placeholder for something else as the software didn’t have the correct jargon for my diagnosis.

The only medication I tried for anxiety was Buspar but it didn’t work so I stopped taking it. Haven’t tried any other meds. No history of clinical depression.

Thanks for sharing this - it is a rare injury, but it does show up on the boards here from time to time as you know. The problem is not jelqing, but rather being pre-disposed to this venous leak, at least in my opinion. If jelqing could cause this, so could have any rough sex or masturbation.

The refilling of your glans from venous ligation is farther than most guys have gotten in fixing it, and so that is good information for the forum.

Unfortunately, you will probably not get any new info that will fix it here. We’re not medical professionals and most of the advice here is of the same type you got from urologists pointing towards the normal psychogenic causes or impotence reasons.

My sad but honest advice - get good at eating pussy and using your hands. Enjoy all the other aspects of love and relationships to the fullest. Use toys for penetration when you can’t do it yourself. Just “next” any women who can’t handle the situation - that’s fine and it’ll happen but you’ll find others who don’t mind. And meanwhile, keep searching for a solution, but don’t let it ruin your love life.

Before 5.5" x 4.1" ///////// Now 7.4" x 4.9"

Do you remember anything about how the injury happened aside from erect jelqing? Was it a sudden pain or did it present itself after the fact?

Your initial post is a good example of what a person needs to be willing to do in order to get a definitive diagnoses for an injury like this, and it’s why a lot of guys never get one.

Are you generally a reckless person? The kind of guy who races his friends on the highway or does hard drugs? The idea that a person who tried jelqing erect and got injured must be some crazy risk taker, or all around incompetent human being who had it coming is wrong. A lot of these guys who’ve gotten injured are just normal people living normal lives. And even if they were a reckless, incompetent person, would they deserve to get permanently injured?

Instead of finding blame, it would be better to learn in more detail why an injury happened, and use the info to begin lowering the injury rate.

You can get an implant unless you haven’t tried kegels yet. Like proper kegels with a physiotherapist.

It may help. Otherwise, an implant is the final option and will bypass the issue of the plumbing.

I really don’t think the guy has come here to bash what we’re all practising here, it looks to me like he’s just looking for help!

I definitely have nothing to offer but I think bearded dragon offered some really good advice! Find other ways to have a fulfilling love life and keep on seeking professional advice.
