Help, I chafed my raphe!

How to describe it in words? The line/ridge of skin that bisects your nut-sack, and ends at the circ. scar? I’ve been looking for a good penile anatomy page and have come up blank trying to find a name for this line/ridge of skin. If I remember my sex-ed biology right, I’m thinking that this ridge of skin is where we guys get welded up down there once we differentiate into males. But what’s it called?

Anyone?

I believe you are referring to the raphe.

Gracias dear sir- I believe you’ve got it. And mine is f’ing irritated; raised, like in a calloused kind of way. I believe that this has resulted from doing Smores with a lot of soap. I knew all along that soap is basically pretty shitty stuff to put on your cock and stretch with, but the soap residue just gave such a good grip! However, I believe it also really dries out/stresses the sensitive skin of the penis when you use it for (rather extreme) stretching.

I have a small section of the raphe, about an inch and a half worth, right beneath the circ. scar, that is lighter in color, somewhat raised, and is constricted/tight in just the way you’d expect from calloused/chaffed skin. Acts just like a callous would: is dry, raised, less flexible. Takes awhile when I start my routine to get comfortable working stretches that force this area of the skin to stretch.

Before it gets any worse, I’m going to temporarily suspend all stretching activities (including golf weight ADS which I do with cornstarch baby powder and which also seems to irritate/dry out this area) and will be only doing forms of PE which are copacetic to the use of warm oils- i.e. pumping and jelqing so I can get this hardened/calloused area back to it’s former suppleness.

Basically going to treat it as a callousing and see what happens when I treat it with warm oils and such. Definitely needs a break from dry or soaped up stretching.

A new PE injury? I’d call this one "callousing of the perineal raphe".

Wants, I’m going to move this to the Injury forum. Shall I rename it? Something like “Help, I chafed my raphe” perhaps?

 bingo. Probably play well on that injury thread as well. Thanks for the assist.

No hay problema. :D

I tore my raphe once. It hurt like hell and bled a little. Nasty.

All I can suggest is to keep it moisturized. I don’t know what works best. Vaseline applied several times a day (especially immediately after showering) is probably as good as anything.

Soaped? That’s probably what caused it.

What I’m thinking too. I use it when I do golf swing weight fulcrum stretches in the shower. The soap residue gives a really good grip, but also, unfortunately, appears to be excessively drying out the skin too.

Due to the fairly intense nature of these stretches I’m feeling that the extreme stretch you can get with the soap residue might actually be too intense anyway, so perhaps it’s all for the good.

We’ll see. Nothing drying for the unit for some time I’m thinking.

Battle scars, battle scars….past the first inch, you earn your way in this game. :leftie:

Put Vaseline intensive care for dry skin on it several times per day. Do not put powder on it that won’t work. Better yet put A&D cream on it, or vitamin E oil. Next time do PE with a more oil base soap like lever brotheres or something sissified like dove.

Speak softly carry a big dick, I'm mean stick!

Soap is for washing, not for PE.

If you want some skin tackiness, try whatever you’re doing immediately after a long, hot shower or bath. Dry off. Shaft and hand skin are then both in a good condition for stretching without any additional additives or grip aids.

Ahhh damn hobby! You tore your raphe??!! Jesus! God bless you. I can’t imagine the pain.

The search NO longer continues. :)

Yeah, I ripped it trying to tug skin out from under a wrap. Ouch indeed.

For a different level of pain, though short-lived, try doing a chemical peel.

I get the irritation once in awhile closer to the base from just about any form of stretching, jelging, clamping, pumping, etc. I always took it as a sign things were growing. I’ve never actually torn it although it can be quite irritated sometimes.

Maybe this one should’ve gone, “I’ve chaphed my raphe”.

Relieved to see that others have had experiences with the raphe area acting up but getting through it nonetheless. Main problem is the slight pain irritation putting a limit on stretching for now. I may take hobby’s suggestion and do the Smores stretches dry, but after a really good warmup, from now on. Was getting to enjoy that time/ritual in the shower though. Time to evolve.

Vitamin E is a good suggestion. Bet Wheat Germ oil or Flax oil wouldn’t hurt any either.

I use a bit of body oil in the shower, once it’s warmed up and yanked a few times to start the process going. You have to bear down on the grip a bit, but I think of it as an opportunity to cross-train my grip work.

I may start using flax oil when the body oil runs out.
Can’t eat it- far too vile- and nothing covers it!
