Folliculitis and boils

Folliculitis and boils

Well, I’m damn well done with shaving after getting a good case of inflamed hair follicles again. Since my ball skin has taken new duties as shaft skin I cannot catch a BREAK from this shit. A few months back I had two boils on my scrotum, now I have one developing on my shaft from an inflamed hair follicle, this has of course put the air brakes on any PE. I’ve been to the doctor throughout all this and received Augmentin, Septra, and K-flex all prescribed at different points. I have an appointment with an Infectious Disease doctor October 6 and surely hope he can get to the bottom of the cause.

If anyone has been down this shitty road please chime in on the outcome, I’m doing all I can and following all advice received from Doctor.

You probably have a strain of staph which is resistant to the antimicrobials you have tried; my recommendation for these recurrent problems is doxycycline 100mg twice daily for 14 days and topical Bactroban at the same time. That usually works to end the infection. Then use an antimicrobial soap daily to prevent recurrence.

I appreciate it, yes it is a methi-resistant(spelling?) staph infection.

Hahahha. Finally, a thread I can help on. Here is athread of mine from months back where I dealt with your problem: Pimples around pubic area? .

And if you don’t want to read all of that, then I will just give you the cure SUnshinekid suggested. GoldBond Medicated Powder 3 times a day.

The only power a woman has over you is that which you give her.

I get irritated, itchy, and pimpley hair follicles from shaving, no matter where. Therefore, I don’t shave! I either trim, or pluck…. no worries.

Good suggestion, Kawaihae.

Resistant staph infections are increasing in numbers of strains, we so overusing anti-bacterial preparations. Any super market nowadays is full of them.

Yes, the doc said he used to see this in mostly football players, now he said it is more and more common among the general public. I guess because of skin contact of football players. I appreciate all the responses, I will mention the doxy and Bactorban when I visit the Infectious Disease doc. I will get a beard trimmer to use on my pubes from now on, the open wounds create an ideal place for bacteria to enter the body. This boil that is forming on my shaft is really comfy, I look forward to ending all this shit.

Alice, A8:

The overuse of antibiotics is a big problem, not only what you see casually sold as microbial soaps in the supermarkets and stores, but the rampant use in the meat and poultry industries. The residues get into both the food and the ground water. The bugs that survive are monsters.

One agent that will kill bacteria with impunity is silver - silver shuts down the enzymes that bacteria use for respiration and food processing - they starve.

If you could find a good quality colloidal silver it would work topically if, for any reason, the antibiotic failed.

All the Best,
