Skin irratation/dry spot - Redi Stretcher

Skin irratation/dry spot - Redi Stretcher

All,

New hanger here with a question.

I am using the Redi Stretcher for hanging. Recently I increased my weight and began using a piece of sweatshirt as a wrap.

I have developed a spot on the right side of my unit that is slightly discolored where the hander grips. The weirder thing is the skin in that spot is dry and flaky.

I rested it several days in the hopes that the skin would return to normal. So far not the case. What have I got here and what should my approach be? Do I lay off hanging until return to normal?

Yes, I’d lay off the hanging until things get sorted out. This is a strange one. Let’s see what we can see.

So you’ve been using the Redi-Stretcher with no problems until you went up in weight and started using a piece of sweatshirt material?

Did you try the Theraband?

What weight were you using?

What weight are you using now?

Hard or soft sides?

Are you doing any other PE?

The slightly discolored, dry and flaky spot is only on one side? That’s the strange part as well as the dry and flakiness. If it were a hanger issue, I’d expect that to be on both sides. Is it possible your sweatshirt material got twisted or something in that spot? Have you tried one of Xeno’s HTWs? They’re nice and because there isn’t any wrapping, it just rolls on like a condom so there’s nothing to pinch. I’d be happy to send you one of my extras to try.

K, I’ll lay off until that time.

Yes. Started at the end of summer hanging 1 20 minute set X 5 lbs. in the shower to get used to hanging. Did this for about 3-4 weeks and then when school started I began a full blown hanging routine of 3 sets X 15 minutes X 5 lbs.

I upped the weight slowly and added the sweatshirt because my skin was SO sore. Didn’t have the dry, flaky stuff, just extremely sore from the hanger.

I tried but it didn’t work for me very well. Before the sweatshirt I used 2 HTW’s similiar to Xeno’s.
Toolguy - HTW: its a wrap

I tried 2 of these but found the sweatshirt to be more protective of the skin.

5 lbs for quite some time.
Then 7.5
Then 10 on the last couple of days. That is when the problem developed (also started using the sweatshirt about this time, probably a few days beofre going up to 10).

Not currently. I do some very light stretching, jelqing between sets just to restore blood/circ.

It is possible the sweatshirt got twisted. The more I have thought about it, I think the problem may have been brought on by the sweatshirt, though not sure exactly how.

It seems to be peeling off now. Similiar to a sunburn or something of that nature.

Weird!

Started back this week with no wrap, soft sides, 7.5 lbs/3 sets/15 minutes per set.

Everything is looking good. One thing I am doing is flipping the Redi-Stretcher because I seem to get more skin soreness on the right side (where the dry skin was). This seems to help, go figure.

Toolguy,
I dealt with this a lot while hanging exclusively. I could rub my hand on it and it would flake off. I wasn’t very proactive in treating the area and it lead to skin cracks. My mentor Bib advised Neosporin or comparable triple antibiotic ointment when this happened. As you can guess, I have some heavy scarring from this.

You done the right thing by backing off, I used sweatshirt material also. Some real Vitamin E oil helped a little also.

Are you taking a lot of L-Arninine? Or supplements high in L-Ariginine?

Before: I'd like to show you something I'm very proud of, but you'll have to move real close.

After: I\'d like to show you something I\'m very proud of, but you guys in the front row will have to stand back.

Mr. Nine,
Thanks for the tips. I’ll definitely try some of that. I’m of the PE philosophy that growth is accomplished by a moderate program where your unit feels healthy and well. I try very much to avoid overdoing it or anything that “hurts” the unit.

Mr. Happy,
No, no supplements.

Guys,

Just wanted to report in that while I tried to use the hanger with no wrap and soft sides I continued to get skin soreness and the dry spot on the right side of my unit.

I took a week off hanging and read some of the threads I had bookmarked about wrapping. I found a post by Capt. Hook where he said he wrapped with theraband only (which may be what TPS was getting to in this thread, but I didn’t clue in). So, once having read that, I thought I would give that a try.

Well, I’m happy to say, that I used the Theraband that I ordered with the Redi-Stretcher, applied a small amount of baby powder to my unit, wrapped tightly with the Theraband and have been using the redi-stretcher with the hard sides and it is working GREAT!

I have been doing this for 2 weeks with NO skin soreness and great lig fatigue (3 sets, 15 mins, 7.5 - 12.5 lbs.).

Can’t thank the forum enough, especially TPS for a great product and Capt. Hook for the suggestion. Works absolutely wonderful for me!

Just wanted to report that using the theraband alone for a wrap is still working fantastic. Doing 3 sets of 15-20 mins BTC and SD increasing weight from 5 lbs. to 15 lbs. throughout the sets and absolutely ZERO skin irratation.

Once again thanks to all those here who give their time and advice!

Just another tip here regarding the Theraband only wrap.

Make sure and use baby powder before each and every wrap!

I didn’t use baby powder on my 3rd set when wrapping and when I removed the theraband, probably a little to quickly, it tore a tiny bit of skin of my unit. Nothing major but had to take a few days off to let heal so the skin wouldn’t tear more.

So, make sure and put baby powder on the penis before each wrap and set.

Other than that the hanging is going great. Doing SO now with up to 17.5 lbs. :)
