Does calorie deficiency cause lower libido for you?

Does calorie deficiency cause lower libido for you?

Hello!

I’ve been on a diet for a couple of days now and I’m restricting calories so I can lose some weight but I’m suffering from low libido and am experiencing that my erection is weaker. Have you been experiencing similar when you are restricting calories? Can it cause weaker erections?

More likely a mental state and not from reduced calorie intake from a physiological standpoint. If you have not dieted recently or frequently, you are distracted to that end whether you perceive it or not. I regularly fast ( no food at all for one or two days. Occasionally three days but rare). No difference in libido. Given enough time on the diet you will adapt.

But we are all different so I suspect that i react differently than you. I may need to eat more fats to boost testosterone.

What benefit do you gain from fasting one to two days? I’m thinking of fasting myself but am wondering if it’s worth it. I would like some input if you don’t mind? 😊

In my opinion this could have caused the decrease in libido, because diets generally stress the organism and they are in most cases useless and/or harmful. A better way to lose weight is to establish a regime, which you should follow throughout your entire life. Avoid junk foods, nutrition with high glycemic index and any kinds of unhealthy fats/carbohydrates, to begin with. Do your own research and don’t starve and torture your body. Losing weight, like any other nutrition-related goal, mustn’t be achieved with diet, but with a proper lifestyle (this means to include exercise and proper sleep as well).

Not starvation but caloric restriction with optimal nutrition. Also known by the acronym CRON. Get this book, understand the research and principles behind it.

Probably available at your local library also. Male libido is not entirely dependent on testosterone. Get a comprehensive male blood panel to know normal values and establish a baseline from which to monitor your health. Don’t guess. Know the science or consult a physician.
