This thread is designed to shed light on the problem many people seem to be suffering from of having a soft, deflated glans during erection, which is often abnormally hard in the rest of the shaft and also seems to present with a firm flaccid penis. It is a problem I’ve recently encountered, and in looking for a solution have created this thread. There’s lots of good info here but I’d appreciate if anyone can shed any further light on it.

1. Detailed history of all the events that lead up to my glans becoming deflated during erection as well as all other observations since.

On Monday, February the 22nd, I had been clamping fairly regularly for several months, on a 4 day on 3 day off approach. Since I was getting unsatisfactory expansion I decided to start using double clamps, which I did each day that week, with no problems, and definitely increased expansion. That week I also increased what I was hanging from 1.25kg to 2.5kg. At this point, on Monday, I’d only been hanging regularly for a week or 2. Throughout all my sessions I’d do dry jelqs and firegoat rolls (: p). I should comment that at this point my EQ was good, I was getting nightly wood and morning wood and had great flaccid hang and strong erections, in spite of the great fatigue I was loading from the clamping.

On the Friday (February the 26th) I purchased a ‘ball’ thing from a shop called happy high herbs, which is marketed as a smoosh of natural immediate erection enhancing herb concentrates. Basically you suck it for a few moments before chewing it and it tastes not great and so you get a drink and swallow the beast. I bought it cause the previous week I had been with a girl but under the influence of alcohol and my nerves, which were considerable, couldn’t, ahem, maintain proper form from the journey from her mouth to her, ahem, snatch. So basically I couldn’t penetrate her, though it didn’t help that she refused oral stimulation and was darn tight.anyway.

So anyway that Friday, I ate the ball thingo and got a super hard erection, equal to the hardest I’ve hard, though, interestingly, not the girthiest I’ve had. Needless to say, things went more smoothly with the girl, other than the fact that we got a bit excited and didn’t have a condom - eg I didn’t cum. And long story short wasn’t ‘finished off’, and we went to sleep. Except I couldn’t sleep. Merely touching or thinking about my dick would make it hard again. Also, after peeing, I had the distinct feeling that there was a bit more to go, but it kind of hurt, and I couldn’t quite get it out. At one point I did manage to, and it was actually a bit of semen. I should note that I hadn’t ejaculated for 5 days or longer, which is at my upper limits.

Eventually I decided to masturbate, to ‘clear myself out’ and did so successfully, ragingly and a bit messily, but I cleaned up after. Finally then I got some sleep. The next day I noticed I had the false ‘need to pee’ sensation a few times but by night it was gone. That night I went out and by chance ingested a pill which was sold to me by a trusted friend as MDxx, an analogue of MDMA. Later that night I smoked weed and had a massive wank session, as I have done many times before under the influence (or dying light of) MDMA and sometimes weed too. Over a few hours I ejaculated twice, played some video games, and eventually went to bed.

Before going to sleep, I decided I was horny and awake enough to masturbate again. I started the process while still in bed and while my shaft became rock hard, as hard as I’ve ever felt it, my glans were noticeably deflated and I could not reach orgasm, despite my best efforts (though I wasn’t using porn which I usually do and was laying in bed still, which I normally don’t). I gave up and went to sleep.

This brings us to Monday, March the 1st. During this week I did not PE whatsoever and did not masturbate till Friday. I was getting super hard night wood, that would last ages, but again, with deflated glans, almost to the point of being completely empty of blood. However, if I stimulated myself consciously, with porn or otherwise, while sitting, my glans would balloon in size as they used to, but be prone to deflating (faster than the shaft) when the stimulus stopped.

On the Monday night and Tuesday I felt some sharpish pain that would stab then abate for several seconds then throb back again, for maybe 20 seconds or less. This happened maybe 2 or 3 times over those days. That was the last of the pain but the other symptoms remained unchanged for the rest of the week, I masturbated several times without trouble but the glans, even when filled with blood, would never go ‘smooth’ like it used to when I had big erections like I was getting that week.

This week, starting March 8th, Monday. All week and the previous weekend my flaccid hang has been as small if not smaller than my pre-pe size in girth and length Feels kind of contracted, a bit firm, a feeling I’ve felt before, after jacking off too many times, usually. However I attribute this to stopping PE, at least partially. I tired some dry jelqing and this helped flaccid size the next day.

I started some light kegeling on the Wednesday (which I haven’t done for months). It felt very strange. Like the kegel muscle had no power at all, and trying to squeeze it, I could only do so for a second or so before it released. I’ve never experienced that before. It made my whole groin area not tingle, but like feel like a fuzzy, like when you contract a muscle super tightly for ages and then release it.

This is still the case today. It’s definitely real. My penis looks and feels weird with deflated glans and a raging hard erection. What’s weird is how hard the shaft gets. It feels really super hard, like I’m not used to, and then this ridiculous soft and small glans sitting on top, it not minimum size as it’s being stretched by it’s attachment to the shaft, but you get the idea. If I kegel while it’s in the state, I can actually see it inflate, visibly and practically double in size. As I said, continued stimulation will also keep it in this state but this might be because I’m mini-kegeling. When I stop I can see it deflate. And if I apply pressure I can feel the blood being squeezed out.

Final symptom. Today I tried some more aggressive kegels (I literally could not do them before as described above). Squeezing as hard as I could for 5 seconds. After about 10 of these I’d feel a sharp pain and have to stop. I tried again and again the pain. I tried a light kegel for longer and immediately it hurt again. I immediately discontinued. The pain felt like it was in my penis and was, I think the same as described above but hurt more.

2. Questions and other medically relevant examples

I’m aware of the other ‘soft glans’ threads. I felt none of them were sufficiently explained or gave detailed accounts of contributory activities other than "I think it’s PE related.

Case notes:

I am especially interested in the following from the above:

1. Kegels at first felt almost impossible to due what felt like a very very week kegel muscle (sorry my physiology in this area is poor).

2. Kegeling hard caused pain.

3. Glans not holding blood due to ‘natural erections of night and morning wood, but does during stimulation, which is possibly due to minor activation of the kegel muscle during conscious stimulation.

Do these points suggest that the injury is in fact an injury of the kegel muscle? How could this have occurred based on my activities?

Here there’s a guy who describes a similar issue, except it sounds more severe than my own, he says when he stands up he loses his erection completely. I don’t. But he did find he had this problem after masturbating on MDMA and weed.

3. Summary of Thunder's Place knowledge base on the soft glans issue

This is the other thread with the most information and testimonials about this issue (Glans getting soft?). I’ll summarise the information I found while reading through it, from the various users reporting this issue.

1. The shaft of many seems to be harder than before.

2. The glans is soft of many until they get a full-blown erection or are near the PONR when it finally swells to former or comparatively former glory.

3. Several members reported that after taking significant time off, eg weeks to months, the problem was alleviated, but usually not completely, and that PE would cause the problem to return.

4. Some members blamed hanging/stretching and other clamping for the problem.

5. Some members reported the problem prior to PE and that PE made it worse.

6. Yataghan50 reported that Viagra would not cause expansion of the glans.

7. Multiple members have also reported that the corpus cavernosum was deflated.

8. KC, after getting this problem from hanging, according to him, took several months off and restored 90% of the glans problem. Later on, he tried some weird PE that was bad advice from Shillow, and since then didn’t seem to recover to that previous state again, even after 12 months. Around this time, he said a urologist and underwent a battery of tests including for testosterone etc that showed nothing. An invasive ultrasound also showed no ‘leakage’ in his artificially priapsm’ed penis.

9. Shillow is full of shit.

In another thread Aussie644 claimed to have fixed his soft glans by taking "B complex, Ginseng and L-Arginine. I’m going to cycle the L-Arginine". He said the glans had returned to their previous ‘shiny state’ during erection and has been PEing without trouble since. (Soft Glans)

Johnno also described a new exercise he created which he claimed to have improved the inflation of his glans during erection. Based on his post, it seems he might always have had a soft glans, and could theoretically be a method of resolving the issue for such people: "Girth gains finally picked up again; here’s how"

I’ve been on a two week break after EQ going down due to over training, and I’m finally getting night/morning wood back. I’m going to take several more weeks off, and start back very lightly. I’ve been looking into problems people had, and this is a very good summary. My glans have always been somewhat soft, as far as I can remember, and I do think that spontaneous erections are more prone to this effect. If it is getting worse due to PE, the only reasonable thing to do is take a long break. I’ve found claims that the exact supplements you list should be beneficial to overall EQ and would also add Ginkgo to the list. That in particular has has been studied quite a bit:

Also, note that supplements may take time to work. The Ginkgo link above says 4-6 weeks (at 120-240 mg), and I’ve seen other studies that say months.

We investigated the efficacy of Korean red ginseng for erectile dysfunction using the International Index of Erectile Function, RigiScan (UroHealth Systems, Laguna Niguel, California), hormonal levels and penile duplex ultrasonography with audiovisual sexual stimulation.

The ginseng dose was 900 mg. 3 times daily.

Results
Mean International Index of Erectile Function scores were significantly higher in patients treated with Korean red ginseng than in those who received placebo (baseline 28.0 ± 16.7 and 38.1 ± 16.6 versus 30.9 ± 15.7, p <0.01). Scores on questions 3 (penetration) and 4 (maintenance) were significantly higher in the ginseng than in the placebo group (p <0.01). In response to the global efficacy question 60% of the patients answered that Korean red ginseng improved erection (p <0.01). Among other variables penile tip rigidity on RigiScan showed significant improvement for ginseng versus placebo.

Conclusions
Our data show that Korean red ginseng can be as effective alternative for treating male erectile dysfunction.

It would be interesting to know the state of the glans before PE. Was it always shiny for every erection? Was it shiny throughout the whole process?

While I would say it is totally empty of blood, my glans has always had different states for as long as I can remember. But as you have noticed, it still gets really full near the PONR even if it wasn’t just for the erection. The hornier I am, the fuller the head. This seems to be true not just for within an erection cycle, but in general. If I am really into it from the start, then it is shiny almost from the start.

The girth goes right along with this. The hornier I am and the more rested my penis is from sexual activity, (including masturbation, up to a point I’ll mention later), the bigger and better the erection, both the head and the girth. Also, the second or third ejaculation in a single day is preceded by an erection of less than maximum quality in terms of the head and the girth, and even the overall length. The shaft can be extra hard, just not as thick.

My nocturnal erections are rarely shiny head full, at least that I have noticed when I wake. A normal one is just mainly the shaft. A rare one is shiny head full.

I have read some but not everything about this. One thing I notice is that guys take time off from PE, but are still masturbating fairly frequently.

I also think age has a factor in this.

My formula for a super shiny head is: 2-3 days off from masturbating and PE. Then about 50 to 100 jelqs, which is 25-50% of my normal workout. More than 3 or 4 days seems to send me back into the other direction.

While I am not saying it is not a real problem with possibly real physiological causes, in my experience it is simply a matter of a tired dick and me not being as horny. Tired dick from ejaculating and PE. Not horny from too much ejaculating, or quite simply just me not being that into it at the moment, or being tired in general, or having ate drank stuff that is bad for the erection, etc.

I even don’t have all my length at these times until I get closer to the PONR, and sometimes not even then. The thing is simply overused, strained and tired.

My EQ is not only affected by PE, but simply how horny I am and how much I have been ejaculating. And the head fullness is the first thing to go when I am not that horny.

I understand what you’re saying ER, what you are describing is the modes of EQ that are caused by PE and frequency of ejaculation. The problem arises when after 5 days of not masturbating, one still cannot achieve the ‘shiny head’, or in some cases cannot get past a completely wrinkled looking glans, which is what I’m trying to deal with here.

Computerguy I will look into getting and trying some ginko. Though I think that trial was dealing with overall ED, which, naturally, includes the glans. I believe the soft glans issue I’m investigating here is caused by something other than what generally causes the type of ED such as a study that you have posted is investigating.

Agree it is different, but overall improving circulation might help. I’ve not paid much attention to the glans until the last week, when dealing with decreased nocturnal erections due to being overworked. I don’t want to take any chances, so I’m giving it another few weeks at least before I start a light routine. Are you continuing to PE or are you going to take a break?

I am still struggling to decide whether to take a complete break or not. The pain with the kegels was a bit troubling, so I’m not sure. I think I’ll continue with some very light jelqing after a week or so and see how we go. I’ll also try to get my hands on some of the natural supplements suggested above.

I’ve got some 4x concentrated horny goat weed and already I’ve had several night erections where the glans were significantly more inflated than before and while the shaft was still very hard it felt more normal. Positive signs that blood flow increases such as these will indeed be the answer.

What I’m more concerned about is the cause, so I can avoid it happening again!

Tweaking, you stated you had a "major wank session" while rolling. Depending on how long it took you to finish during the extended session, one could call such an extended "wank session" a period of mechanically induced priapism, and may possibly have precipitated the issue.

The over-long session may have resulted in over expansion of the cavernosa, and also resulted in congestion of the blood flow to the glans. This congestion may be causing the decreased inflation of the glans.

Hope you get it sorted.

Tweaking, I just wanted to say that I feel really bad for you. It’s tough to see anyone experience injury but it hits especially close to home when that person is a contemporary.

I would have to say I’m voting for a complete break for at least a month. When I had my injury last summer (base soreness due to overuse of a cock ring), I had to lay off everything - including masterbation - for about 6 weeks. I’m not even sure if I would be taking suppliments during the break.
